Karen looked in to his eyes with a flirtatious smile & he said come on lets go home & you can relax & put your feet up & Karen said Chris I’m only 13 weeks pregnant in which he replied yeah but you still need to rest it’s been a long day with work & things Karen finally gave in & said well I suppose your right We have had a long day & I guess We could ca….. Chris looked at her & said Karen I said rest nothing else tonight & she said you spoilsport & jokingly poked her tongue out Chris then replied well I suppose We…. Karen giggled & said I knew you’d give in when I did that. They then left the restaurant & Chris flagged down a taxi, when they arrived back at Karen’s flat Chris bent down to lift Karen inside once inside he put her down on the sofa & said you wait here Karen then said oh that sounds promising & He said I’m only going to make Us a coffee darling to which Karen said DAMN Chris laughed & said you behave young lady you might get a hug & kiss when the coffee’s ready the he went to the kitchen to make the coffee & Karen sneaked over to the phone to phone Emma in Canada & just as she was about to dial the number Chris coffees ready & looked at Karen & asked what she was doing & she said phoning the girls to tell them O… Chris then said darling it’s 3am there call them before We go to work in the morning & Karen said but think about happened before & Chris said you need to relax darling come on & he patted the seat next to him on the sofa, Karen finally relaxed & the started talking about the baby & Chris asked when she had to go for the scan & Karen said arm Monday at 3 I think I’ll check in the morning & Chris said how are We going to tell Jayne We’re going for the scan & Karen said you could tell her you’re going to the dentist or something & I’ll say I’m picking the girls up at the airport they get back on Monday too & he yeah I suppose I could do that looked at her & pulled her closer for a hug & kiss. Once they finished their coffee they looked at each other & said well time for bed & smiled at each other & Chris Grabbed Karen before she could even stand up & she said just think in a few months you won’t be able to do this & laughed. The next day was the live show so they both had to be up early & Chris woke first Karen was lying with her head on his chest & he kissed the top of her head & whispered morning darling I’m sorry to disturb you but We need to be at the rink in an hour & Karen still tired said shah I wish We could Have a day off & Chris said We do on Tuesday darling come on you know what Jayne’s like if We’re late & the both laughed, & started talking about when they would tell Jayne about them being engaged & the baby & Karen said I’d like Lauren & Me to know if that’s ok Chris then said yeah I was thinking that too would you mind if I tell the boys too Karen looked at him & said well this baby is the boys little brother or sister too so they have a right to know don’t they & Chris nodded & smiled at Karen & he said come on We’d better hurry & get changed to go Karen then leaned in to Chris & gave him a kiss before disappearing to the bathroom to get changed then reappeared 20 minutes later wearing her Jogging suit & flat shoes Chris had got changed while Karen was in the bathroom, Karen said let’s go We can grab a coffee at star bucks on the way Chris nodded in agreement & said you need to eat too darling so We can grab you something on the way & Karen looked at him & said babe I meant both of Us can grab something from star bucks silly & laughed. When they got in the car Shania Twain was on the radio singing you’re Still The One & they both sang it & smiled at each other on the way to work. The car park was pretty full at the rink but Chris tried to get as close to the door as he could so that Karen didn’t have far to walk, Karen said to Chris remember don’t mention to Jayne about the baby yet I want the kids to be the first to know & he said darling I won’t tell anyone don’t worry & gave her a kiss & said relax will you & she said ok lets get to the rink & when they got there Jayne was standing in the middle of the rink waiting to start the routine’s & when She saw Chris & Karen come in She said joking shah look Mr Dean & Ms Barber have arrived AT LAST everyone got their routine’s right first time & the live show was only 5 minutes to airing & Karen said I’ll go take off my skates see you all out there good luck everyone & turned to Chris & mouthed see you later sexy they both smiled at each other then Karen went to her dressing room to get her killer heels for the show airing, everything went well the whole show & when the show was over Karen run to Chris’s dressing room & said let’s tell Jane now I can’t wait & Chris said whoa you said you wanted to tell the kids first darling remember & Karen said I don’t mean about the baby silly, I mean about the engagement & he said are you sure darling & she said well We either tell her or She’ll probably read it on the paper so I think We should tell her come on & they both went to Jayne’s dressing room & Karen said can We talk to you for a minute Jayne & Jayne said you know you can talk to me anytime Karen, the all stood in Jayne’s dressing room & Karen was grinning from ear to ear & Jayne said what’s the problem & Chris said there’s no problem Jayne it’s just ….. Karen then said We’re engaged holding out her hand to show Jayne her ring Jayne then screamed with excitement OMG CONGRATULATIONS you two & hugged them & Chris said We wanted to wait to tell you but (pointing to Karen) this one couldn’t wait Karen then said oh Jayne I’ll be going early tomorrow I have an appointment at the doctors & Jayne said that’s ok & they said they’d see her in the morning & She asked Karen when the girl’s were home & before Karen had a chance to answer Chris said tomorrow they get back Jayne & Karen said I’m meeting them at the airport before I go to the doctors tomorrow then Jayne’s mobile bleeped it was her Phil asking where was & saying dinner was almost cooked she hugged Karen & Chris again & said bye then left Karen looked at Chris & said I feel so guilty about not telling Jayne about the baby & Chris said do you fancy a pizza or fish & chips tonight I can’t be bothered cooking ? Karen replied err yeah fish & chips I think they stopped off to get it on the way home & when they got to the front door Karen opened the door & said put my fish & chips in the oven I don’t feel too good, I’m going to lay down a while then I’ll check what time the scan is tomorrow Chris said ok darling if you need anything just call me & an hour later Karen came back down stairs Christ how she was & she said I still don’t feel good I’ll tell them at the scan tomorrow although it might be normal it’s been so long can’t remember how it felt with the girls, after an hour Karen said I’ll go check what time the scan is I forgot earlier ten looked at Chris & said I was wrong it’s 10am not 3p what do We tell Jayne? Chris said I’ll sort it out I’ll text her later & say you got your appointment time wrong & she said ok baby thanks but don’t say a…. & he said I know I won’t say about the baby I’ll say I’m dropping my mum somewhere too & that should be it sorted Karen then walked over to Chris & he put his arms round her & she put hers around his neck & the had a long lingering kiss, then she said I’m going to bed are you coming or have you something better to do & she giggled & walked away & he followed her upstairs & said the only place I want to be is with you & you know it then he picked her up & carried her upstairs where they lay in bed hugging & talking for most of the night as none of them could sleep being too excited about the scan the next day, then Chris said shall I text Jayne & tell her you will be late today as because you got the doctors appointment mixed up or do you want to text her yourself & Karen said baby I already have text her I did it last night when I was resting so you’ll have to make something up to tell her won’t you & got up & said I’m going for a quick shower & Chris laughing looked at her & said erm quick shower do you know what quick means you’re ALWAYS ages getting dressed & Karen picked a pillow up & threw it at hi m & said just you wait till later Mr Dean & walked away to go for a shower & he shouted after her IS THAT A PROMISE & laughed 20 minutes later Karen went down stairs & Chris had just text Jayne explaining he would also be late that he had slept in & said he was dropping over to see his mum as she called to say she wasn’t feeling too well & when he had finished he looked at Karen & said right darling lets go & the got into the car as Karen turned the radio on & again You’re Still The One was on & Chris looked at Karen & said you’ve always been the one for me & she said in reply you’ve always been the one for me too .
When they got to the hospital Karen went to the reception desk to give her name & the woman behind it said there would be someone with them soon when they were sitting talking about baby names & things the needed a nurse came out & told them to come in & then Karen lay on the bed for the scan & Chris held her hand to keep her calm & after checking everything was & asked how far along she was Karen said 13 weeks, then the nurse checked to see everything was ok then said Mrs Dean you are further on than you think you are 20 weeks then she asked if they’d like to know the sexes of the babies & Karen looked at Chris & said BABIES & the nurse said yeah you’re having twins would you like to know the sexes & Chris looked at Karen & said what do you think darling would you like to know what We’re having I…. Karen smiled from ear to ear looked at the nurse & said yeah please We would & the nurse said ok one minute & turned the monitor round to let Karen & Chris see their babies & she said you are having two baby girls & they both smiled at each other & Chris leaned down to Karen & placed a kiss on her cheek & the nurse said you are free to go when you’re ready

They walked out to the car holding hands & Karen said to Chris lets go get some more of your things & take them to mine & Chris turned & looked at Karen & said Kaz are you asking me to move in? & she said well you’ll be there a lot when the kids are born anyway so why not move in permanent, & he looked at her & smiled & said of course I’ll move in but I’ll drop you off at your place & go back to work then & I’ll pick some of my things up on the way back to yours. Karen said We could go now Jayne thinks you’re seeing your mum & she knows I was at the doctor so We have time don’t We & Chris reminded her that the girls were coming home & she said OH GOD I forgot you can drop me off at home then go straight to work & I’ll go pick them up & Chris asked her if She’s checked to see if the plane was on time & she said yeah last night & Chris said Kaz I mean this morning darling & she said not yet I’ll do it now, then She said OMG Em text me an hour ago so she called her & said She didn’t think they’d be home so early & Emma said Mum it’s just me that’s home Laura isn’t coming she said she’s staying a few more days then Karen said WHAT!!! YOU MEAN YOU TRAVELLED HOME ALONE? To which Emma replied Mum calm down I’m fine & I’m home now that’s all that matters isn’t it? & Karen said yeah I suppose but I’m giving Laura a call when We get home I’ll give her a piece of my mind, We won’t be long Chris had an appointment at the dentist so I went with him to hold you know what he’s like he’s a big kid & Emma & Karen started laughing & Chris looked & Karen & shouted OI YOU TWO STOP MAKING FUN OF ME & Karen said Em sweetie We won’t be too long Emma then said ok Mum see you when you get here.

When the car stopped I the driveway Emma run right to the side Karen was sitting & before Karen could even get out of the car Emma opened the car door & wrapped her arms around Karen & said Oh Mum I’ve missed you soooo much then she leaned across to hug Chris & said how’s my favourite step dad & Karen & Chris looked at each other as if to say did I just hear right & Emma said right who has the keys I’m FREEZING standing here & Karen said well let me out of the blooming car & I’ll open the door & she said to Chris you get the things out of the car & I’ll go get Em inside & Emma said well that’s you told & walked into the house with Karen & the were both giggling & when Chris came in he looked at Emma & said I’ll take your case up to you your room Em ok & Emma said yeah thanks Dad. Then Karen said Em that’s twice now you’ve called Chris dad you know your dad’s… & Emma said mum don’t panic I know Chris isn’t my dad but I feel he is so I want to start calling him Dad if that’s ok because I’m never going back to Canada I hated it the whole time I was there all dad did was moan at me & practically ignore me spend loads of time with Laura& Karen put her arms around Emma & said oh baby that’s not fair of him to do that I’ll give him a call & give him a piece of my mind & Emma said mum it’ he knows I’m never going back there I told him before I left. & Chris came downstairs & said right who wants a cup of tea? & Emma said Oh I’d lover one dad & Karen looked at her & said hey that’s enough of that & Chris said Karen babe just leave her I’m going to have to get used to it anyway when…. & Karen said CHRISTOPHER shut up & Emma looked at them both & said is there something going on here I don’t know about & Chris said ask your mother & laughed & Emma looked at Karen & said mum what’s going on ? Karen then said how would you feel about Chris moving in permanent? Emma said I’d love it. what did he mean about having to get used to being called dad? & Karen said you ‘re going to be a big sister & Emma let out a scream & wrapped her arms around Karen & said oh I can’t wait when ? Not for a few months yet but there’s another surprise baby & paused & Emma looked at her & said what is it Mum is the baby ok? Then Karen looked at Chris as if help me out here & he looked at her & said tell Em the rest of the news darling & Karen said you’re going to have twin baby sisters & Emma gave Karen another hug & said I’ll help you with everything mum & when you’re both away doing Dancing On Ice I can baby sit then Karen said on her way went in to the kitchen I might only be doing half of the tour depends how I feel then She went in to the kitchen & said to Chris where’s that tea Mr then Emma heard Karen’s phone bleep & shouted into the kitchen Mum you have a message on your phone I bet it’s Laura, Karen then came out & said it’ll probably be your auntie Jane then Emma said does she know about the…. Karen said no baby she doesn’t We just found out this morning that it was twins & Emma said so I’m the first to know & Karen & Chris said yeah darling you are, how do you really feel about it Karen asked & Emma said mum I told you I can’t wait have you thought about names & things like what colour you’re doing the babies room in then she said oh mum where are they going to sleep there’s only 3 bedrooms in the house & Karen said oh hmm you’re right I forgot about that I suppose they’ll have to share your room for a few years & Emma looked at & said hey mother stop winding me up or you can find another babysitter & she stuck her tongue out at Karen jokingly & they both started laughing. & Chris said right I’m off to the rink Kaz I’ll tell Jane you aren’t feeling great & will be back at the rink tomorrow you spend the day here with Em then Karen got up & gave him a kiss & hug & Emma looked at them & said get a room you two will you & Karen said you shouldn’t be looking at Us & stuck her tongue out at Em then she said to Chris that she’d get showered & changed & be at the rink in an hour & Emma giggled & said to Chris you know that means two hours don’t you ? & Karen turned & looked at Emma & said hey young lady don’t be cheeky & Emma said aww mum I’m winding you up & Karen said I know baby I was too

Around half an hour later Karen came back downstairs & asked Emma if she’d be ok on her own in the house for a few hours to which Emma replied Mum I’m coming to the rink too I haven’t seen Auntie Jayne for a while & Karen said ok then go get you’re stuff together I’ll phone a taxi & Emma started to giggle & Karen said Em what are you giggling at baby? Then Emma said I’ve phoned a taxi you better grab your & said things Mum it’s here.
When they got to the rink they could see Chris standing at the door & Karen asked him if he was checking up on her & Emma giggled & Chris said no it was Mum I was talking to just to see if she was ok & Karen said aww ok I’ll let you off & she & Emma giggled then Emma said right you two lovebirds time you were at work just as she said it they all heard a voice saying yeah exactly Emma they should be, it was Jayne & Emma ran over to hug Jayne as it had been while since she’d seen Jayne then Karen said hi to Jayne & that they’d go drop their stuff in their changing rooms & Jayne said ok & whispered to Emma that’s if they can keep their hands off each other then Emma laughed & Karen heard her & jokingly said to Jayne Oi Jayne you better not be telling my daughter rude jokes then Jayne turned round & said no Kaz I’d never do that, then looked at Emma & said have you got your Ice Skates with you& Emma said yeah Auntie Jayne I have what are you thinking? to which Jayne said never mind the Auntie you’re too old for that just call me Jayne to which Emma replied mum would kill me if she heard me though
