posting now before laptop dies! there was a bit of a mix up about the last post, sorry! :)
“Okay honey… do you want me to stay here with you the night? I don’t mind”
“they said I’ll be ready to go home in a couple of hours!”
“Ooh wow I didn’t realise it’d be that quick, that’s fantastic”
“Yeah I know!” “ah!” Jayne winced and her squeezed her eyes tight as a pain went through her stomach.
“you okay?” Karen said suddenly becoming quite concerned.
“Yeah I think that’s the stomach cramps kicking in, I haven’t felt a thing until now actually”
“Do you want me to get you anything?”
“Could you just pass that water on the side there please” Jayne said pointing to the bottom of the bed where there was a little tray on wheels with a glass of water and a set of painkillers that she’d been left. “thanks” she said weakly as she took the water from Karen and took a couple of gulps.
“Do you want the painkillers too?”
“No thanks I’m okay at the moment I’ll take some if it gets worse though” … “Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah of course anything”
“What did you tell Chris, you didn’t tell him I was having this done did you”
“no of course I didn’t Jayne… I know we’re a couple and everything now but I wouldn’t do that to you or him, he doesn’t know a thing about any of it, he’ll get told the same as Phil, a miscarriage, if that’s what you want, I’m not going to tell him anything that you don’t want me too I swear… he just thinks we’re out shopping”
“Okay well we can’t say I fell on the ice to Phil then can we”
“Why not its not like Chris is going to talk to Phil is he”
“Well you never know… it’s just safer that way isn’t it…”
“You can still tell them both that, I’ll just tell Chris you went by yourself or something and fell practising some jumps”
“Okay….” Jayne said a little uneasily.
“Jayne listen to me, everything is going to be fine don’t fret, I’ll tell Chris whatever you like it makes no odds does it”
“Just tell him whatever you think,” Jayne said putting her trust in Karen.
“Do you want me to ring Phil for you?”
“Yeah okay would you… and pretend I’m asleep or something because I don’t feel like talking to him right now”
“Of course I will… and I didn’t necessarily mean now but if that’s what you want”
“Yeah I think now would be better… my phone’s in my bag over there in the front pocket… could you past me the painkillers while you’re there please?”
Karen got the phone from her bag and passed Jayne the painkillers which she took with another gulp down of water, and then moved herself down the bed rearranging the pillows behind her and shut her heavy eye lids. She’d suddenly felt an urge of sleepiness. Karen decided to go outside to take the call, she pulled the sheets over Jayne and made her way outside to get a bit of fresh air at the same time before dialling Phil’s number into Jayne’s phone which came up right away.
“Hello? Phil it’s Karen… i know this might seem like a strange call but it’s jayne… she’s had an accident at the rink”
“oh my god is she okay?”
“Yes I think she’s going to be fine but the babies might not…”
“are you actually being serious” Phil replied thinking maybe it was a prank call or something.
“Yes this isn’t something to joke about Phil… I’m at the hospital with her now”
“Well I’ll get the first plane back tell her not to worry I’ll be there!”
“no you can’t… she doesn’t want anyone, she told me to tell you not to come home early, she wants you to stay out there until Saturday like planned, she’s going to be fine I promise you” Karen said struggling to find the right thing to say that would be convincing enough.
“she’s sleeping right now, but I’ll tell her to ring you as soon as she wakes up” Karen said to Phil.
“you have no idea how ridiculous you’re sounding right now.. Karen is it? I don’t even know who you are the only time I’ve ever seen you is when you were making out with my wife’s ex husband and that doesn’t put a good impression in my mind… then you ring me up and tell me that she’s had a miscarriage and I’m to stay where I am in a different country, and that I can’t even talk to her! You’re having a bloody laugh!” and with that Phil hung up on Karen angrily shoving his phone back into his pocket leaving a panicked Karen on the other end. She didn’t know what to do, what if Phil came back despite her words? Did he really just think she was a lying old bitch who was trying to play games? Probably. She hit the re dial straight away, not entirely sure what she was actually going to say to him if he were to answer, but she wasn’t expecting him to. He didn’t as it turns out, not the first time anyway. But Karen wasn’t going to give in just like that, she kept trying to call him back and she wasn’t going to let him get away just like that with that impression of her. After about 10 attempts of calling Phil back he finally picked up, and Karen tried her hardest to redeem herself with him and eventually succeeded, Phil had realised after a little while that Karen was a very strong minded woman and wasn’t going to stop bothering him any time soon unless he accepted that fact.
Once finished on the phone Karen found her way back to the room Jayne was in, with a content smile on her face as she felt a sense of achievement. Jayne’s eyes were drifting closed as she lay in the bed, rubbing her stomach with her right hand in attempt to soothe the pains.
“I’m back… how are you feeling”
“you took your bloody time what happened… and my stomach is really aching now but I’ll get over it… just tell me what he said”
“well I explained it to him first and I’m pretty sure he thought I was playing some kind of prank on him or something… and you know how I have that urge to make people happy, at least the first time I meet them? Or talk to them, in your husband’s case… well I had to ring him back about 20 times after that call because he refused to pick up. Anyhow, he believes me now and I’m pretty sure I’ve convinced him not to come back in a hurry, but to make sure I did have to tell him that you’d call him as soon as you’d woken up”
“oh Karen… what would I do without you eh… and how long do you think I’ll have to leave it before I ring him back?”
“Probably a couple of hours max…” Karen guessed.
“I think I’ll just ring him when I get home, will you go and fetch the nurse for me and see how long till I can go home?”
“of course” and with that Karen disappeared from the room to the office at the end of the corridor to get the nurse who was taking good care of Jayne. She told them that she was ready to go home but she wasn’t to be left alone, meaning Karen would have to go back to the house with her and stay with her just in case of an emergency if anything happened. Chris wasn’t going to be too pleased, were Karen’s first thoughts but she hoped that he’d understand that Jayne was still her best friend even if he wasn’t so friendly with her anymore.
“wait there I’m just going to ring Chris in the other room okay?” Karen said to Jayne, they’d been back at Jayne’s for the last 20 minutes and Jayne had her feet propped up across the sofa and they were both sat happily watching tv. Chris was expecting Karen home any minute as she hadn’t quite told him yet that she wasn’t coming home.
“sure”
“Karen?” Chris picked up after two rings, pretty much as normal. Karen had shut herself in Jayne’s bedroom to have the conversation.
“hi baby” Karen said in a sweet innocent voice. “Look… I’m not coming home tonight, I’ve got to stay with Jayne just to make sure she’s okay, I’m so sorry” Karen explained already feeling bad for leaving Chris but at the same time she knew she couldn’t leave Jayne by herself.
“I thought she’d still be in the hospital”
“no they’ve let her come home on the condition that someone stays and that someone is me.. Phil isn’t coming home until Sunday, well that’s the plan anyway. Jayne doesn’t want anyone around her… I’m sorry I feel really bad for leaving you I’m really sorry” Chris could hear the guilt in his girlfriend’s voice and made his heart melt that she felt so strongly.
“it’s fine darling don’t you worry about me, Jayne needs you doesn’t she? You need to do whatever she needs Kaz do you hear me? Now stop feeling bad and go back to her okay.. I’ll text you later”
“okay… thanks Chris I thought you’d understand”
“Of course I do silly… come on you go and get back to her talk to you later”
He didn’t like to admit it to Karen but the rest of the evening Chris was absolutely bored as hell without her in the house. He missed her presence generally, her cuddles on the sofa and in bed, her soft passionate kisses, her sweet perfume scent. But he just sat in front of the tv with his iPad in one hand and his iPhone in the other, texting her sweet, comforting messages and then slowly waiting for a reply, and eventually they turned away from the sweet side and more to the sexy side of… sexting. Jayne was almost fast asleep with the hot water bottle spread across her stomach and a glass of water on the table beside her while Karen sat on the opposite sofa not paying any attention whatsoever to whatever was on the tv, and was clutching her blackberry with both hands as she read the text messages come up on the screen, an excited smile spreading across her face as she thought of an even sexier reply.
The next morning Karen woke up to more texts from Chris who hadn’t slept well at all without Karen in the bed beside him, since it was really her house and her bedroom, it felt strange for him to be staying there alone. It was weird because when they were both together they both thought of it as ‘their’ house, not Karen’s. it just didn’t feel right without her. The first thing Karen did was grab for her phone and as she scrolled through the endless messages from Chris, most were totally random and had no relevance to anything but she read each other individually and carefully for each word and replied to it all, most of her replies just stated that it had made her laugh, or called him silly names, but he was amazed as he read the replies on the other end that she must have read it all. Chris was already at the rink, skating around by himself deciding on the track list for the celebrities, and texting Karen back at the same time. To him it seemed like he was there ages before anyone turned up, the first there were Matt and Dan, and eventually Jorgie and Jen followed, and they got to work, but it was difficult two coaches down, and Rob, one of the other coaches had the day off to spend some extra time with his newly born baby daughter, so he wasn’t in a lot.
“Aren’t you going into work” Jayne asked as she padded into the living room wrapped in her dressing gown and ugg boot style slippers when she walked into the lounge to find Karen sitting there in a dressing gown she’d borrowed from Jayne and her bare feet propped up on the recliner, she had her phone in her hands and the television was on, but she wasn’t paying much attention to it.
“No darling I wasn’t going to leave you was I”
“I’ve had an abortion not a bloody stroke” Jayne said not really liking too much fuss around her, she never did and never had.
“I know honey…but I’m going to be here for you at least for today just in case, what if you get any of these side effects and there’s no one here? I wasn’t going to go without letting you know either was I” Karen said.
“Hmm” Jayne said kind of agreeing with her best friend as she smoothed down the side of her dressing gown and sitting herself down on the sofa on the opposite end to Karen.
“How are you anyway” Karen said and she put her phone down for the first time since she’d got herself out of bed.
“I’m okay… I think… I’ve had a bit more bleeding but nothing major and still got mildish stomach cramps but again nothing major… I’ll survive”
“Okay well you just tell me if anything’s wrong won’t you.. do you want a cuppa?”
“yes please that would be lovely thanks Kaz” Jayne said, knowing by the look on Karen’s face and her mini speech before that she wasn’t going to let her do anything for herself all day, and she was right.

“I can do this myself you know” she protested as Karen got her a glass of water and practically fed her the medication she’d been given.
“sorry… I’m sorry, I’m just doing what I’ve been told to aren’t I, I’m only looking after you” Karen insisted…. “where are you going?” she said quickly as Jayne downed her water and then got up off the sofa to leave the room.
“bathroom, if that’s okay with you?! And then I’m going to have a shower, and get dressed, if that’s okay with you?” Jayne said pausing in the door way before she carried on and went to get herself ready. Once both the girls were showered and dressed they didn’t really know what to do with themselves, especially Jayne who was completely under Karen’s ‘supervision’ and instruction. But eventually she got fed up of being mothered and began to hate it. “Karen… why don’t you go up to the rink for a couple of hours, get out the house eh? You’ve been running around for me all day” Jayne suggested when it became a bit much.
“no I want to be here for you, I don’t mind, you know that right?”
“I know you do love.. but I think we could both do with some space eh? Just for a couple of hours and then you can come back and check on me if you like” Jayne laughed.
“If you’re sure… I mean I think Chris is missing me a bit” Karen added and looked down at her phone again.
“then go! Even if it’s just for an hour, or half an hour?”
“I’ll feel bad leaving you hear by yourself”
“just go Karen, I know you want to! I’ll be absolutely fine I promise you. And I’ve got my phone and you’ve got yours, if there are any problems I’ll ring you straight away, promise” Jayne looked into Karen’s eyes and told her straight and after a fair bit of persuading Karen eventually left and headed up to the rink, ringing Chris on her way up in the car.
“Karen!” Chris said, standing up as he saw her come in. everyone else had left the rink and they were done for the day, and Karen didn’t realise it was now nearing on 6pm, it certainly hadn’t seemed like that long at all.
“Hello baby…” Karen said walking over to him and wrapping her arms around him, she was so small and he had his skates on still too which made Karen even smaller, she rose right up onto the balls of her feet to give him a long, intense, passionate kiss on the lips, locking their lips together as they shared a romantic moment, already enjoying the peace and quiet that surrounded them.
“I’ve missed you so much its ridiculous…”
“I kind of got that from your hundreds of texts… I don’t think my phone has actually left my hands all day… and I’ve missed you so much too, it’s not ridiculous… well maybe it is-I love you…” Karen replied in a soft tone, before kissing him again, as if she was hanging onto him for dear life and it was a perfect moment.
“fancy some special ice time then?” Chris said once Karen had stopped kissing him so lovingly, and she nodded eagerly before sitting down on the bench behind them and putting her skates on, left one first just as Jayne and Chris did, and Chris bent down and laced once up for her, purely to save time, he couldn’t wait to get her on the ice and spin her around, lift her up and down and around.
“I love it when we have all this space to ourselves” Karen smiled deeply gazing into his eyes as they skated hand in hand, breathing heavily from the lifts and tricks they’d been performing in absolute unison, sharing sneaky kisses in between.
“do you want to… do the headbanger” Chris said, a cheeky dare-devilish smile spread over his face as he squeezed Karen’s hands and looked into her sparkling eyes.
“I don’t know… I mean I’m not sure…” Karen was pretty nervous even at the mention of her name.
“Hey hey what’s that nervous look for? You can trust me right? Come on… you’ve done it before!” he took hold of both of her hands and then moved one hand to her cheek in a comforting manor.
“and I pretty much hated it…” Karen said, her voice was trembling a little but there was a part of her that did want to go through with it and who better a partner for her to do it with than Chris? She’d done it once a few years back with Dan to show Hayley and it made her pound and throb and spin… but she did have to admit it was a great experience even so.
“awwww come on” Chris teased her encouragingly, trying to build up her confidence.
“okay” she finally agreed. “we’ll do it like this first I think” Karen said lying down on the ice with her arms by her sides and she tensed up her body all tight, and put her leg in the air for Chris to grab hold of. He got a good grip on her leg and began spinning, pumping faster and faster until there was enough momentum for Karen to be lifted into the air. He bounced her gently up and down and she looked up at him with a huge grin on her slightly petrified looking face, they managed about three bounces before Karen was squealing to be put down.
“see that wasn’t so bad was it?” Chris said, putting Karen gracefully back onto the ice gently, and then helping her up, a real gentleman. She threw his arms around him as soon as she was back on her feet.
“that was wonderful!”
“see? Before you know it we’ll be pro at it, we can make it our own move, and no one will ever know” Chris said winking at her and then moving closer to her body for another passionate kiss, almost of celebration.
I might do a little bit before we go out, and then it will probably be Tuesday at least before I update again, I don't do Monday's, it's awkward doing it on the iPod! x
After confronting her fears of the headbanger Karen didn’t feel nearly as nervous about it at all, it much less nerve wracking doing it with Chris than it had been when she’d done it before with Dan, but part of that was probably just the fact that she was surrounded with people that she couldn’t let down, and was being filmed as well, what she had just experienced with Chris, she didn’t have to worry about anyone judging her, or pleasing anyone, it was much less forced and she’d got a huge rush from doing it.
“can we do it again?” Karen asked eagerly, her brave, flushed face looking up at Chris who was surprised he’d ever hear those words come out of Karen’s mouth referring to the head banger, or any other big lift that she may have been petrified of.
“well I’m not going to say no to you am I darling, especially with that cheeky smile you’re flashing me” Chris laughed, taking hold of both her hands again and squeezing them as he had done before, and then Karen lay down on the ice again, squeezing every muscle she could. This time she knew what to expect as well, and she had so much trust and faith in Chris she felt so much more relaxed about what she was doing, and really enjoyed being whipped around by her ankles, there’s a thought she’d never thought she’d think!
“that was just amazing” she gushed afterwards as he helped her up. She couldn’t wipe the smile off of her face at any point and it spread widely from ear to ear. “that’s enough for today though I think, fun as it is it bloody hurts your ankles after a couple” she carried on before leaning closer to kiss Chris.
“we’ll do it again next time we have a chance, I can’t believe how much you’ve enjoyed that I thought it was going to take a lot more persuading on my behalf to get you to do it!”
They had a bit more fun on the ice, just skating around hand in hand again, a few lifts here and there, they were definitely getting bigger and better, something Chris never expected Karen to and he’d only ever dreamt of skating with her on this level. “I think I’d better get back to Jayne?” Karen said as they both slowed down, breathing heavily.
“Okay… are you staying the night there again?” Chris said, trying not to show how much it bothered him.
“If she wants me to then yeah I will,” Karen said, and then she noticed the suddenly saddened look that had come over Chris’s face. “I’m sorry honey, I’ve got to support her, she’s going through a really hard time, you understand that right? I know things probably won’t ever be the same between the two of you but I’m still her best friend and I’m going to be there for her when she need me…”
“of course I understand, I just… miss you… a lot” Chris admitted sheepishly.
“it’ll only be one more night eh? Then you can have me all to yourself, I promise” came Karen’s flirtatious reply as she put her arms around his waist and looked up into his eyes.
“I guess I’ll just have to be patient then won’t I? you’re worth the wait” and with that he bent down slightly as Karen rose up and balanced on the toe picks of her skates, and they shared another intimate moment and hugged affectionately.
“I really do have to make a move now, I said I’d only be half an hour and its nearly bloody 8”
“okay calm down sweetheart, come on, Jayne would have rung if she wanted you back wouldn’t she” he convinced her as they both sat and unlaced their boots, putting them into the skate bags and walking out of the rink hand in hand, but then climbing into separate cars. “I love you, see you tomorrow baby” Chris called out the window to Karen who had parked conveniently right next to Chris.
“love you too” she replied.
When she got back to Jayne’s she let herself in, kicked off her shoes in the hallway and dumped her bags with them before hanging up her coat, going to the kitchen to put the kettle on for them both and then went to see Jayne who was sprawled across the sofa.
“hi sorry I took so long” she apologised as soon as she entered the room, but there was no reply. “jayne?” still no movement, Karen walked over to where her friend lay snuggled underneath the big, thick, fleecy blanket. “Jayne!” she shook her shoulders desperate for an answer, Karen’s heart was pounding as she immediately expected the worst, but after about 30 seconds Jayne stirred, but it seemed a lot longer to Karen.
“Oh hi, what is it?” she said rubbing her eyes and adjusting her position to sit up and tucked the blanket around her feet to warm them.
“Jayne you nearly gave me a bloody heart attack I thought you’d passed out or something!!” Karen said with huge relief, but she was still a little shaken.
“Calm down sweetie… I just fell asleep that’s all, what time is it? Did you have a good time?”
“It’s just gone 8, and yeah we did”
Would have carried this on longer but I’ve got to go out now, and I might not get another chance to update until Tuesday, sorry!xx
Karen stayed that night with Jayne too even after her constant convincing that she’d been fine, Karen already felt bad for leaving her to go to the rink, she felt the least she could do was stay with her the night.
“Karen, please go into the rink today” Jayne pleaded as they both sat at the table with a cup of tea and an egg sandwich.
“Are you fed up with me already then” Karen laughed, though she was secretly pleased because she missed Chris so much, but she wasn’t going to admit that to Jayne, it seemed a bit strange to ask her for permission to go and spend time with her ex husband… or nearly husband.
“No it’s not that… well maybe a little… you know I don’t like all the fuss! And you do fuss over me A LOT… I’d really prefer it if you just went to work okay? I’ll have my phone on me, if anything’s wrong blah blah blah, but I really think I’m fine now anyway”
“Okay thanks Jayne… I was going to ask if you’d be okay for me to go in today anyway. I wouldn’t of if I thought you needed me of course” she added.
“you’d better get ready then?” Jayne said glancing at the clock on the wall behind her. Karen quickly put both their plates in the sink filled with soapy water and left them there, she couldn’t be bothered to do the washing up and decided she’d do it when she got back. She showered quickly and pulled on a pair of black leggings, a blue lacy top and a little cardigan to cover her arms. She had blue fluffy socks that matched her top tucked into her brown ugg boots and just popped into the kitchen to say goodbye to Jayne before she left.
“have you got any paracetamol?” Karen asked.
“Erm yeah sure in the cupboard next to the sink there should be some, you okay?”
“yeah I’m fine” Karen said as she walked over and pulled out the tablets, downing a couple with a glass of water and popping the rest of the packet into her handbag. “just a bit of a stomach cramp” she said.
“okay, bye then! Have fun!”

“Karen!” Chris exclaimed as she entered the rink, he excused himself from the group of pros and went to give her a hug and a quick kiss. “I wasn’t expecting you in”
“well then it’s a nice surprise for you isn’t it?” she said cheekily placing another kiss on his lips. It was then she realised that none of the cast knew they were in a relationship, they’d probably guessed they’d been a lot closer recently but they’d never actually kissed or anything in front of anyone before.
“are you okay?” Chris asked as Karen winced a little and rubbed her stomach.
“yeah I’m fine, just you know… cramps”
“aw baby.. Here” he said and comfortingly rubbed where Karen indicated and hugged her closely into his body.
“chris… none of these guys know about us…” Karen said awkwardly as she could sense a few heads glancing at them on the ice.
“oh my god… right get your skates on we’ll have to make an announcement or something”
“you and Kaz a bit cosy aren’t you??” Matt joked as Chris got back on the ice.
“Erm, well about that. Me and Karen are officially in a relationship now… things didn’t work out between me and Jayne, to put it simply” he added.
“aw, congratulations the two of you, you’re great together! Sorry about Jayne though” Frankie piped up, who was standing next to Matt. By this time Karen had joined them and was standing closely behind Chris, not really sure if she wanted everyone to know or not, not that she had a choice.
“When’s Jayne coming back? She is coming back isn’t she?” Sean asked from the back, Jodeyne was standing closely next to him.
“Yes she will be coming back… maybe next week. I’m not quite sure how things are going to work out though, I don’t think I can skate with her again after all this, not yet anyway, that will be a huge step” Chris hadn’t even thought until now about what they were going to do when it came to the live shows, the entirety of the British public would be expecting more spectacular routines from their ice heroes Torvill and Dean. Chris wasn’t sure he could give them that.
“Right let’s get started then!” Karen piped up, it had all gone silent creating an awkward atmosphere amongst them, talking about Jayne had made Chris gone into deep thinking mood and he knew he was going to find it quite difficult to concentrate for the rest of the day. Eventually he did get more into the zone, and they got quite a bit of work done, every one was ‘dismissed’ by 5pm, leaving just Karen and Chris on the ice again.
“What are we going to do about me and Jayne skating? There’s no way I can skate with her now, not after all this! I don’t think she’d approve either, or Phil for that matter”
“I honestly don’t know… I’m sure something will work out, just tell the public you’ve got some kind of injury, or you’re too old to perform anymore!”
“Aha thanks for that Kaz, you calling me old?” he joked.
“No… I’m only a couple of years younger myself! I’m just saying you could-” her words were cut off by a passionate kiss.
“why don’t we skate together?”
“What?!” Karen was surprised at this suggestion she wasn’t even sure she’d heard him right.
“me and you… skate together on the show! We have the head banger too now, I’m sure we can rustle up a routine or two and bung in some tricks… it’ll be amazing Kaz! Come on!”
