Half an hour later Karen was taken down to a different ward to have some tests done then returned back to her bed on the first ward she was on "Doctor Smith will be back down to see you as soon as your results come through" "ok thank you" "now you try and get some rest." As soon as the test results came through Doctor Smith went back down to see Karen and deliver the news when Karen saw the look on his face as he approached her she could tell it wasn't good news. "How you feeling now?" "a lot better thank you" "I'm afraid I have some bad news for you ... was you aware that you were pregnant?" Karen looked totally surprised and didn't know what to say or think "what ... I can't have been ... I mean how we made sure we were careful each time" "well you were 13 weeks pregnant but unfortunatly you misscarried ... I'm sorry are you sure theres no one I can contact for you?" Karen went into a World of her own and tears began to fall down her face "no ... I'm fine" "ok ... we will be keeping you in until later on this evening to make sure you're ok ... I will be back in a while." Karen sat for hours infact the rest of that morning until about 5am just thinking about the baby she didn't even think it was possible for her to still get pregnant obvisously it was but now she had no baby and that made her very emotional she wasn't sure about what to feel.
"Where's Karen?" Chris asked Jayne as she was waiting on the training rink for him "I thought she was with you?" "I thought she had stayed here the night" "why?" "we had another argument ... the tickets for the ball came yesterday and as soon as she saw it was addressed to both me and you she went mental ... I told her she was acting like a silly child locking herself in the bedroom then she came here on her own ... well thats where she told me she was going ... actaully she didn't tell me I just asumed when she picked her skates up and took them with her." "So where is she now then?" "I don't know thats why I was asking you" "she can't have gone far can she ... did she take anything else with her?" "yeah just her phone I've left over 20 texts and voice mails but none answered ... come on we better get started on this routine we don't have long before the others get here ... you know what Karen's like just trying to get some attention ... she'll be here soon."

"Mum ... how are you?" "I'm fine now just a few cuts and bruices thats all" "what happened?" "I was in a car accident ... I felt a bit dizzy and I don't know what happened after that the next thing I know I'm here" "when did it happen?" "early this morning about 01:00 time" "why didn't you phone when you got here then?" "I didn't want to worry you ... it's fine honestly" "why was you out that time anyway?" "I was comign back from the studios" "what at that time" "yes I had another argument with Chris and I was just so angry with him so I went to skate to cool down and let the stress out" "whats happening between you two then?" "Its a long story don't worry it will sort it out" "has he been to see you?" "no ... I don't want him here at the moment." "Anyway how are you?" "I'm fine" "how's your sister?" "she's fine too ... when are you going to be out?" "In the next hour or two" just then Doctor Smith came back to check that Karen was ok "oh hi, I'm Doctor Smith you must be Laura?" "hi" she replied back shyly "how you feeling now then?" "I'm fine ready to go home now I think" "well remember we want to keep you here till at least 6pm to make sure you are 100% better ... and have you got someone to take you home?" totally confused Laura looked at her mum "mum ... I thought you just said you were coming home in the next hour" "I... I did'nt want to worry you." "Have you got someone to take you home Ms Barber?" "no I'm fine I can just get a taxi home" "I don't think thats really the best idea after the news you've had today ... we advise that when something like this happens that you get a family member to pick you up" "mum what news?" "its nothing I'm fine" "tell me will you" "Laura I'm fine just everyone stop fusing will you ... Laura can you go now please" "no ... not until you tell me whats going on ... ok well if you won't tell me Doctor Smith will" "I'm sorry but I'm not allowed to do that its confidentiality" "well I will phone Chris then." Laura picked up Karen's phone and got his number up on the screen ready to dial "no Laura don't ... I had a miss-carriage ... thats what caused the accident ... I had sharp stabbing pains while I was driving home then felt dizzy" "is this what the argument was about then you're pregnant" "was" Karen corrected her "no I didn't even know I was pregnant until I'd misscarried ... please can you just go now."
Jayne looked over across the rink to see Laura standing there "Chris why's Laura here?" "I'll go and speak to her ... maybe she know's where her bloody mother is" "Laura you ok?" Chris asked "why? ... why are you not at the hospital with mum?" "theres no need to shout at me I'm standing right here ... is this just some silly attention seeking plan your mother has got you involved in?" "you are just sick? ... mum is in hospital she was involved in a car accident at 1 this morning on her way back from the studios ... and yes I heard about you had a row its all your fault shes in there ... you haven't even been to see her or anything ... you are just carrying on like nothings happened how can you? ... oh and she misscarried your child too do you really think that is some sort of attention seeking game ... do you?" her voice got louder and louder as she spoke.

Oh no :( he needs to be there for her and then they need to get pregnant again because miscarriages are just too sad :( Good story though, I like the drama!

Chris was still not so sure about beliving whether or not Laura was being serious as it was the first he had heard about it "is that the best excuse she can do ... involve a baby into this situation?" "Chris ... I don't think this is a game" Jayne replied over hearing the conversation. It all became very real to Chris hearing what Jayne has said and he then realised that he had been very harsh and said some very harsh things to and about Karen and he came over very emotional tears starting to pour down his face which rearly ever happened "I hate myself ... I've been so stupid over the last week and everything that has happened ... it is all my fault" he sobbed as Jayne wrapped her arms around him "have the rest of the day off ... go see Karen and look after her ... she will really need you loosing a baby is a big thing." "I will ... thank you Jayne ... which hospital is she in? ... I wasn't aware of any thing that had happened I just asumed she had stayed here the night I would never leave on her own if I knew she was in hospital" he tunred looking at Laura "the one you pass on your way here" "ok ... do you want to come with me?" "no ... I have to get back to work now ... please can you tell her that I will be round to see her later if thats ok" "yeah sure." Chris gathered his things put them in the boot of his car and drove down to the hopsital as fast as he could. "Hello, I'm looking for my finacee Karen Barber ... she came in about 1 this morning appaernatly" "yeah just down there and through the door" "thanks" he ran down the ward faster than he skated there was a sigh of relife when he saw Karen fast asleep in the little room on her own. Carefully trying not to wake her he climbed up onto the bed beside her and lay with his arms wrapped around her and rested his head on hers just waiting for her to wake up.

There was movement as Karen began to which made Chris wake who was just lightly sleeping "I love you" was the first thing that he said when she woke up and placed a soft kiss on her lips "why are you here? ... I told Laura I didn't want any fuss or to worry you" "well your Laura came to the studios and started having a go at me because I wasn't with you ... if I woul have known I would have been here straight away ... so what happened?" "I was in a car accident ... its just a few minor cuts and bruices I'm fine nothing to worry about" "is that it?" "yep" "are you sure?" "yes ... just stop worrying I'm fine" she replied trying to hold her tears back for as long as she could "I know about the baby Laura told me." Karen just burst into tears and buried her head into Chris's chest "I'm sorry" "why are you sorry? It's not your fault these things just happen" "I didn't even know I was pregnant until I'd misscarried ... I didn't even know I could still get pregnant" Chris pulled her in closer to him and held her tight in his arms. They lay together for a while just talking quietly "when have you got to get back to the studios?" "I haven't Jayne said I could have the rest of the day off ... but there is something that I need to go and do" "what?" "you will have to wait and see ... when are you able to come home?" "later on today" "ok I'm going to go in a minute then will be back later on to come and take you home ... I love you and always will" "I love you too" and they shared a romantic kiss before Chris left. Chris spent the rest of the day shopping, tidying their little appartment up making it nice for when Karen came home and phoning around various people he also had put a roast chicken in the oven and prepared vegtables and potatoes ready to put on when they got back. The day went quite fast for Chris however it didn't Karen who just sat watching TV and reading magazines in the hospital all day. Chris rushed down to the hospital so he was there dead on 7pm to pick her up and she was sat on the edge of the bed waiting for him "hello babe you ready to go now?" "yeah" he took her bag in one hand and in the other her hand and they walked to the car, Chris wouldn't wait until they got home to show Karen the suprise and just hoped she liked it. "Chris it's beautiful" as Karen walked through the door there was a little baby pink dress with gems and glittery bits all over it hanging up on the living room door with a clutch bag and heels several inches high to match which were all beautiful and Karen loved them. "Thank you so much Chris ... but I don't have anywhere to wear them too" she said dissipointedly "will do the hounor and come to the Olympic Ball with me tomorrow night?" "yes I will ... how did you get a ticket though there wasn't any left when I tried to get one?" "I have been phoning aroudn all day trying to get that ticket and what a bloody pain it has been but ... you're worth going through that pain and I wanted to say and show how much I am sorry for how stupid I 've been over the last week" "thank you, thank you, thank you ... I love you so much." Karen went up on the tips of her toes and wrapped her arms around Chris's neck and kissed him passionatly again as a thank you "I love you too ... now go and try it on and I have a roast dinner for us just need to put the vegtabkles and potatoes on."

Karen changed quickly into the dress while finished cooking the dinner "You look amazing ... does the dress fit ok?" "yes its perfect thank you so much ... I wish we were going out tonight I can't wait to wear it tomorrow night" "ok dinner will be ready in 20 minutes why don't you go and have a quick shower and get ready for bed then we can cuddle up and watch TV after dinner" "ok that sounds good." Chris set the table out lite a couple of candels and put two glasses on the table filled with wine half way then lay the plates on the table ready for when Karen was out the shower "aww Chris you didn't have to do this" "I did because I love you" Chris pulled out a chair for Karen sit down and they ate their dinner smiling across the table at each other the whole time. "You go an sit down and find something we can watch I will finsh doing the washing up then join you" "are you sure?" "yes" Karen pulled a big fluffy blanket over her and flicked through the channels finding soemthing to watch and 5 minutes later Chris cuddled up beside her and they slowly fell asleep watching the TV. "Karen what's the matter?" "I don't know ... I can feel the sharp stabbing pains again but this time they feel slightly different ... I don't know really what they feel like" Chris began to worry as Karen was nearly crying in pain he quickly put some clothes on wrapped a blanket around Karen and carried her to the car driving down to the hospital getting there quite quickly as there was no traffic that time of night. "Hello its my fiancee she was sent home early on this evening but woke up half hour ago in pain please can you help her" "yes take her through into the room over there as it has just become free" "thank you" Chris ran down to the room with Karen in his arms holding her tightly and trying to calm her "shhh shhh its going to be ok ... you will be fine I promise you" Doctor Smith was sent down as soon as Karen had turned up "hello Karen ... what seems to be the problem?" Chris spoke as Karen was in too much pain "we were asleep then she woke in pain nearly crying complaing of sharp stabbing pains again but they felt slightly different this time" Doctor Smith was a little confussed and sent Karen down to have some more tests done as there was somethign obversly that they had missed before she left earlier on that evening. Both Karen and Chris waited together Chris still trying to comfort and calm Karen until Doctor smith came back "the tests have come back but we can't seem to find any problem we would just like to do any unltrasound on you though" Chris held Karen's hand as one of the other nurses done an ultrasound on her "it looks like that when you misscarried no one noticed that you were carrying twins and you are still pregnant so congratulations" Chris just looked at Karen and smiled lovingly at her and she smiled back. "Is that what all the pains were?" "yes ... the baby may be under stress from the misscariage of its twin but in a few days the pain should ease off ... we will give you some antibiotics that won't harm the baby and will reduce the pain ... and I can't see no reason why you can't go home tonight either."
*The next day* "Are you sure you are up to going to the ball?" "yes ... I'm not the first person to be pregnant" she giggled as she replied "I know but I don't want nothing to happen to you or our baby" "I know and I love you" "are you nearly ready Jayne and Phil will be here any minute now" "nearly ... how do I look?" "stunning ... absolutly stunning" "you won't be saying that when this bump gets bigger though" "I will ... you will always look stunning ... sounds like they are here" Chris went and opened the door while Karen put her shoes on then went to join the others "hello ... how you feeling now?" "I'm fine now thank you" "and you two made up?" Karen and Chris looked at each other "yes and we have soemthing to tell you" "what you done now?" "nothing ... well we have ... I'm pregnant" Jayne looked confused as the last she'd heard Karen had lost teh baby "but I thought you had misscarried" "I had ... but I was carrying twins and am still carrying one" "aww ... congratulations!."
