Hi everyone! With Karen being over here, it got me thinking what it must be like for them being away from each other a lot and here's what I came up with! Please let me know what you think :)

'Hey gorgeous!' Chris said when Karen answered his facetime call. "Well hey yourself handsome! What are you up to then?" She replied. 'Not a lot, I just got back from dropping the boys off at school so it's gonna be a long boring day for me. God I wish you were here, I miss you so much!' "I know, I miss you too but it's only a couple more weeks and i'll be over. Surely you can manage that!" 'Well I guess I'll have to! But it's so boring without you here! I've got no one to talk to, and when I walk the dog it feels so strange going on my own, like it's just not right without you. And don't even get me started on how much I miss not being able to kiss and cuddle you or we'll be here for hours!' "Aww I know, I miss not being able to talk to you and kiss and cuddle you aswell, I keep expecting you to come into the room and hug me but you're at the the other side of the world!" 'Well I guess I'll have to hug you loads when you get here to make up for it then?' He grinned. "Well I certainly won't decline that offer, I love your cuddles. They're all warm and just lovely!" She told him. 'Aww thankyou, I do try to give nice hugs but i'm never sure if I do! Oh and yours are lovely too by the way!' "Well I can tell you right now that they are indeed very nice! And thankyou aswell, i'm with you on the not being sure how nice my hugs are!" 'Well you seriously give really good cuddles, that is a fact.' He told her with a smile. There was silence for a second and the Chris sighed. 'I really hate being away from you, you know. If it wasn’t for the boys I would move back to the UK and we’d be together all the time, you do know that right?!’ He asked, hoping he knew how much he loved and missed her. "Yes of course I do, but I also know how much those boys mean to you, so of course you have to spend time with them. And I hate being away from you too, but we just have to take it one day at a time, and before you know it i'll be over and i'm staying for two moths so let's just look forward to that eh?" 'Ok, I think I can manage that.' He said with a small smile. "Good" She smiled back. "Right I'd better go and see what the girls are up to. I'm surprised they've not mentioned shopping yet actually!" 'Yeah that is surprising actually! And I suppose I'll find something to do with myself until the boys get out of school. I'll give you a call later ok?' "I'm sure you will, and ok I'll speak to you later! Bye, I love you." 'Ok, bye I love you too'
After their facetime call, they spent the rest of their day's thinking about each other. Karen wandered around the shops with her girls, and of course she loved spending time with them but she missed Chris like mad. She had a pile of his t-shirts in her wardrobe in the UK, and it kept getting bigger, as she almost always took one with her when she left, just so it smelt like him. She would have to buy him some new ones at this rate! Chris, meanwhile, just pottered about the house finding small jobs to do and things to tidy up, but the house felt empty without Karen. He then went and got a starbucks before going to collect his boys from school. He decided that rather than make the boys eat his awful cooking he would treat them to a takeaway, which they picked up on the way home. When they got home, Chris thought he had better phone Karen before he ate as it would be getting late in the UK, so he told the boys to get theirs and that he would be through in a bit. "Hey again!" She answered cheerily. 'Hey! Did you have a good time with the girls?' He asked. "Yeah it was lovely! And well lets just say, when they were distracted, I bought something which I think you will enjoy very much!" She teased. 'Urgg!' He groaned. 'Do you enjoy torturing me?!' "Well I would be lying if I said it wasn't just a little but fun!" She teased him even more. 'Well if I wasn't looking forward to you coming over before, I certainly am now!' "I'll be there before you know it! Anyway, did you manage to occupy yourself until you had to get the boys?" She asked. 'Yeah I just did some jobs around the house and tidied up a bit, and we got a takeaway on the way home so I'd better go and eat it actually or it'll be cold!' "Ok well enjoy, and say hi to the boys for me and i'll speak to you tomorrow ok?" 'Yeah will do! I love you, bye' "Bye, I love you too."
When Chris headed to bed, he sighed as he walked into his and Karen's room. He hated going to bed without her. The bed always felt too big and he could never get to sleep if she wasn't next to him. And when he eventually did, it was horrible when he woke up in the middle of the night and she wasn't there to cuddle up to. He got into bed and smiled as a picture of him and Karen came up when he checked his phone. He lay down for a while and tried to sleep, but it didn't seem to work. He looked at the picture again, and decided he had to text her, just to let her know how much he missed her, not that she didn't already know. 'Hey baby, I know you'll still be asleep but I just had to text you anyway. I miss you so much, it's ridiculous, I can't even get to sleep! God I just wish you were here. Anyway, I hope these 2 weeks fly by and you'll be here soon because I hate this! Right i'll speak to you tomorrow :) I love you xx' He put his phone away and he eventually got to sleep.
When Karen woke up, she checked her phone and saw the text from Chris. She smiled, and counted herself lucky that she had a man that loved and missed her just as much as she loved and missed him. She sent him a quick reply for him to wake up to. "Hey darling, that was so sweet to wake up to, thankyou. I hope you got to sleep eventually, and i've already told you they will fly by! I love you and I will speak to you later xx" She then got some breakfast and spent the day with her girls.
It was the weekend so Chris thought he would take the boys to a theme park, as he knew they liked it and they would soon be too old to be doing things like that with their Dad. They had a great day and were exhausted when the eventually got home. Chris gave Karen a call and they caught up on what they had been doing that day. They said their goodbyes and Chris spent the rest of the evening watching a movie with the boys and then of course he went through his usual ritual of tossing and turning before eventually getting to sleep.
2 weeks later
After what seemed like months, it was the day Karen was flying over and it was safe to say that Chris was like an excited child at Christmas. The boys had even gotten fed up of him so they went back to their mums. Chris got to the airport, checked that Karen's flight was on schedule and then found a Starbucks to try and pass the time. When the flight changed to 'Landed' on the board, Chris leapt out of his seat and sped walked to the gate her plane was at, which he had checked as soon as he got there to make sure he knew where to go. He got to the gate and started searching for her as soon as the people started coming through from the flight. He grinned when he saw her and she grinned back when she saw him. When she got to him, they hugged each other as tight as they could until the eventually realised that they would have to go and get Karen's luggage. 'I've missed you so much.' He told her as they walked through the airport. "I've missed you too. I wonder how many times we've said that over the past 2 weeks?!" 'Yeah, well I lost count anyway! So how was the flight?' "Yeah it was good, just a bit boring on my own." 'I know it's not much fun on your own is it?' He agreed. They collected Karen's luggage and headed to the car. "I sometimes forget how nice the weather is here." Karen said as they stepped outside into bright sunshine. 'Well it's a lot warmer than England anyway.' "Definitely, and it was raining when I left!" 'Ahh well clearly you're in the right place then!' He joked. "Well as long as i'm with you, i'm happy." She told him sweetly. 'Aww, and that's exactly the same as how I feel about you!' He replied with a quick kiss. When they got home, they had a quick bite to eat and then relaxed on the sofa together. 'I really missed you ya know.' Chris told Karen as they flicked through the channels. "I know you did, you don't have to keep saying it! But I missed you too." she said, and kissed him. "There's not a lot on, should we just go to bed?" 'Yeah sure, and you must be quite tired anyway after all your travelling today.' He said as they made their way to the bedroom. "Yeah, I am actually, I think the jet lag is kicking in!" 'Oh no, jet lag is the worst! Well we don't have to go anywhere tomorrow so you can sleep as long as you like!' He told her. "Ahh that's good." She said as they got into bed. 'Mmm, it's so nice to be sleeping next to you again. I think that's what I miss most when you're not here.' He told her as he cuddled up to her. "Yeah it is nice, your t-shirts are nice, but i'd rather be next to you instead!" 'Yeah about that, i've almost run out of t-shirts here because you keep stealing them, so I think you owe me some new ones!' "I know, i'm sorry, we can go and get some more tomorrow, how about that?" 'I was only joking but we can if you like, you're not gonna miss the chance of a shopping trip now are you?" He told her knowingly. 'No i'm not, you know me so well!" 'Well I have known you for a rather long time...' "Yeah that's true, but let's not try and figure out exactly how long eh?!" 'Yeah I think i'd rather not know to be honest!' "Well it feels nice knowing that i'm here for two whole months" 'I know, i'm quite excited about that, and i've got loads planned for us to do!' He told her excitedly. "Ahh well that sounds great, this is gonna be a busy couple of months then?" 'Yeah, i'll tell you all about it in the morning, but we should get to sleep now.' "That sounds like a plan because I can hardly keep me eyes open right now." They switched the light off and lay down. "Night, I love you." 'Night, I love you too. This is gonna be my first proper night's sleep in ages you know!' "You silly boy." she smiled. 'Hey! It's hard to sleep without you!' He pulled a sad face. "I know but remember what I told you, you just have to take it one day at a time." She said, and kissed him, and he smiled, 'Ok, one day at a time.'
