Dancing on Ice Fanfiction

Ok so I know it's a bit early for Christmas related topics but here's another little one shot I did :) I know the title isn't great but I really couldn't think of anything else!

"I can't believe it's only a week till Christmas!" Karen told Chris excitedly over facetime. 'I know! And it's gonna be even better this year because we're actually spending it together!' "I know I can't wait! Only 2 more days and I fly over!" 'I can't wait for you to get here either, I've missed you so much!' "It's only been a few days! What are you like?" Karen asked him shaking her head. 'What?! I have missed you. Are you trying to say you haven't missed me at all?!' Chris asked her. "Of course I have, i'm just not so dramatic about it!" She told him. 'I am not dramatic!' He argued, pulling a sad face. "Of course you're not." Karen smiled, "What are you up to anyway?" 'Not much, the boys don't come round till later. But it's pretty cold here, I could really do with one of your cuddles!' "Aww, well I'll make sure I give you plenty of cuddles when I see you" 'Well good, because I'd be cuddling you no matter what you said!' "Hmm I see, well I do enjoy your cuddles too though so I wouldn't have turned them down!" 'That's settled then, lot's of cuddling when you get here!' He grinned. "I look forward to it" She told him laughing. "Right I've got to go now. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to speak to you later but if not I'll ring you tomorrow ok?" 'Ok I must go too, i'm gonna have to light the fire before I turn into an icicle! Bye, I love you.' "I love you too, bye." 

The next day

"Hi!" 'Hey! So are you all packed then?!' "Almost, just a few bits and pieces but that won't take long." 'Ahh good, I can't wait! Anyway I'd better go, this was just a quick phonecall because I'm taking the boys to football or 'soccer' as they call it!' "Ahh ok well have fun, I'd better get a move on too actually, I'm going to see the girls and give them their presents before I leave tomorrow so bye! I love you." 'Ok have fun with the girls and I love you too, see you tomorrow! Bye.' "Yeah see you tomorrow, bye!"

Karen Arrives

Chris was waiting at the airport for Karen's flight to arrive but, Chris being Chris turned up nearly 2 hours early so he was getting pretty bored. Eventually after what seemed like a lifetime, the flight changed to 'Landed' on the board and he went to the arrivals lounge to meet her. There was a lot of people at first and he couldn't see Karen, then it quietened down and he began to worry that all the people off Karen's flight had gone, but a few minutes later she walked through the door. 'Hey!' He said going over to her and giving her a big hug. 'I've missed you so much.' "Hey, I've missed you too." She told him, then gave him a kiss and they walked hand in hand to collect her suitcase.

'You had me worried there you know.' "How come?" 'Well there was loads of people coming through from your flight and then it seemed to stop and you still weren't here, so I didn't know what had happened to you.' He told her sadly. "Aww I'm sorry, I just got talking to the flight attendant, she was telling me about where she's going next and how much she enjoys going to different countries everyday." 'Hmm well I was still worried about you.' He said pulling a sad face. "I'm sorry, will this make up for it?" She asked and leaned up to kiss him. 'Well it does make it a bit better I suppose' He smiled. "Well good!" 

They found where Karen's suitcase was to be collected and found her case. "So do we have anything planned for the rest of the day?" She asked him as they left the airport and walked to the car. 'No, nothing planned but we can do anything you like. How about going into the town and seeing all the decorations and shops?' "Sure, sounds good to me." So they spent the day strolling around the centre of town and admiring all the Christmas decorations. They did go into a few shops but didn't buy much, just one or two bits an pieces to add to their Christmas presents for each other and Chris bought an extra few things to put in with the boys' presents.

'Ready to go now?' Chris asked her a couple of hours later. He'd thought that he'd gotten away with not being dragged into clothes shops as he thought that Karen would have been tempted by all the shops selling Christmassy things but she insisted that she needed some new tops and that America had a far better selection than back in England. "Oh I suppose, I've got enough to do me until next time anyway!" 'Oh god, please don't tell me there's going to be a next time!' He pleaded with her. "This is me we're talking about Chris, of course there is going to be a next time!" She told him laughing, while he groaned at the prospect of another shopping trip. "Would you prefer it if I went with Jayne next time?" She asked him but of course she already knew the answer. 'Yes, I would like that very much.' "I thought you might" She smiled.

When they got back to the house, Karen could see what Chris meant about it being cold. "Well you weren't wrong when you said it was cold!" 'Yeah I know. It's too late for this year but I think the walls are going to have to be re-insulated. I think it's still the original stuff and this house is years old! Let me just put this stuff away and we can have one of that cuddles we were talking about!' He quickly put the rest of their shopping into their room and got back to find her waiting for him on the sofa with a film ready to play on the TV. "Do you fancy watching a film? I've heard this one's really good and I haven't seen it yet." 'Sounds good' He told her and pulled her into him to try and warm them both up. 

Countdown to Christmas

The next few days were spent just relaxing with each other, mainly cuddling together on the sofa watching a film as it was too cold to go out anywhere. They managed to get the rest of their presents wrapped and all they had do was get some food shopping for the day itself. They had waited until Christmas Eve to get the things they needed, which turned out to be a big mistake. 'Urgg' Chris groaned, 'Why did we leave this so late?' They were trying to make their way to the supermarket, but it seemed like everyone else in the whole of America had the same idea as the roads were chock-a-block and they weren't moving anywhere. "Hmm maybe we should have gone earlier, but it was nice just spending time together and not having to go anywhere." Karen told him trying to cheer him up. 'Yeah you're right it was nice, but i'm just hoping that there is actually still some food left when we get there!' "Oh it'll be fine, and look we're moving now" She pointed to the cars in front of the that had started to drive off. 'Finally' Chris said, relieved, and they eventually got to the shop and got what they needed.  

When they got back, they put everything away and headed to the sofa to watch yet another film. They decided to get a blanket as even huddled right up close together, they were still cold. 'Is that better?' Chris asked her, getting under the blanket as well. "Yeah much better" She told him and gave him a quick kiss. They ended up falling asleep just before the film finished, and a little while later Chris woke up. It was dark, so he got his phone out so he could see, and he noticed the time read 00:22. He gently woke Karen up placing kissed down the side of her face. "Mmm, hey" She smiled at him. 'It's after midnight, Merry Christmas!' He told her, giving her a kiss. "Merry Christmas" She told him as well. "Shall we go up to bed?" 'Yeah, it's a lot comfier that here!' So they headed up to bed. "Night, I love you." She said as they lay down in bed. 'Night, I love you too' He said, kissing the top of her head and wrapping his arms around her. 

Christmas Day

'Merry Christmas!' Chris said as soon as Karen's eyes opened the next morning. "Merry Christmas, again!" She laughed and gave him a kiss 'Can I give you your presents now?!' He asked her excitedly. "Well I guess I don't really have a choice!" She laughed as he was already under the bed getting her presents out. "Wow, this is lovely but I don't think i've got you nearly as many presents!" She told him as she saw how much he'd bought her. 'It's ok, I wanted to spoil you! Open them then!' He told her impatiently. "Ok ok! I'm opening them!" She laughed at how excited he was. She opened the first one to reveal a beautiful necklace with a simple love heart charm. 'Do you like it?' Chris asked her while resting his head on her shoulder. "I love it! It's so beautiful, thank you." She said and turned to face him so she could give him a kiss. 'You're very welcome' He smiled. The next present she opened was a perfume that he'd overheard her saying to one of the other skaters that she liked. "How did you know I liked this one?!" She asked him, surprised. 'Ahh, now that would be telling' She laughed at him, "Well thank you anyway" she said and opened the rest of her presents which were little things that he knew she'd like including some of her favorite chocolates. "Thank you, these are all lovely" She told him, climbing on top of him. "I suppose I should give you yours now shouldn't I?" 'Or we could just stay like this all day?' He told her, kissing her. "Hmm, but the boys are coming over later so maybe that's not the best idea!" She told him. 'Damn, I forgot about that.' He cursed and she laughed at him. "Yours are in the wardrobe, hang on." She got up and walked over to the wardrobe, giving Chris a very nice view of her bum. 'Wow, how is your bum so gorgeous?' He asked her. "Ha! My bum is not gorgeous, would you stop staring at it?!" 'Ermm yes it is, and sorry no can do.' But by this time she had got the presents and was walking back over to the bed, causing Chris to put on a sad face. "Oh stop sulking and open your presents!" She told him. 'Hmm fine.' The first one he opened was a nice new watch she knew he'd had his eye on. 'Aww thank you' He gave her a kiss, 'how did you know I liked that one?' "Ahh I have my ways" She told him. 'You are so sneaky!' He told her, laughing. "Yup, now open the rest!" She was the impatient one now. 'Ok, ok!' he started opening the rest of his presents. It seemed that Karen had the same idea as him, she had gotten him lots of little things that she thought he would like as well. 'Thank you' He told her, giving her another kiss. "Are you sure they're ok? You got me so much!" 'Babe, I love them. And anyway spending Christmas with you is enough of a present!' "Aww you're sweet" 'I know I am' He told her, grinning and pulling her on top of him. 'This is going to be a great Christmas' He said, kissing her again. "Mmm, I know it is." 'I wish we could stay like this for the whole day.' "I know, but your children are coming to spend time with you Christopher!" She told him, laughing. 'Well I guess we'd better make the most of the time we've got then!' And he flipped them so he was on top of her and pulled the covers over them. 

The boys came later and they all spent some time together just chatting as they hadn't seen Karen for quite a while. After they left that evening, they cuddled up on the sofa again. "I guess you were being serious when you said there would be lots of cuddling!" She told him. 'Yup, I miss your cuddles!' "I miss yours too, especially when it gets cold in bed and you're not there" 'I know me too, you make a nice hot water bottle!' He told her. "I do, do I?" She raised her eyebrow at him, "Well I suppose you do too so I can't really say much!" He laughed, 'nope' he said, kissing her. "This has been a great Christmas." She said. 'It really has, in fact I'd say pretty much perfect' He said, kissing her again. "Mhmm, perfect."
