Hi guys, this is just an idea that popped into my head quite recently. It is based around one of my old fics 'Perfect' so that's why bits may sound similar. I am still continuing with the other topics I have promised updates in. Hope you all enjoy!
Disclaimer: I own no one or nothing mentioned in this fic. It is all completely fictional and I don't mean to cause harm/offence. I wish non of the bad things wrote about upon to happen to the lovely people in the story. Warning, scenes of abuse are mentioned in this first update.
It was 8:30am and I had just arrived at the Dancing on Ice studios ready for a day of training. I knew I was over an hour late but so far today had been the worst morning of my life. I got out of my car and pulled my jacket out from on the passenger seat and put it on as it covered the cuts and bruises that had already formed on my wrists and arms. I dried my eyes on my jacket sleeve before putting on a fake, but hopefully bright and convincing, smile and heading into the studios through the back door. When I entered the studios I stopped in one of the corridors to look in the mirror. I checked my reflection before noticing I had failed to successfully cover up the large scratch on my cheek from this morning. I couldn’t believe my own partner would do this to me. Most people who knew Stephen thought he was a bully but I was stupid enough to believe his half hearted apologies; I should be his princess not his punch bag... I sighed audibly before walking into the rink.
Jayne and Chris were already on the ice and when Chris noticed my arrival he got off the ice and walked towards me.
“We wondered where you’d got to Barbie.” Chris said as he walked up to me.
“Mmm sorry.” I said quietly looking at the floor.
He stopped in front of me and gently put his hand under my chin, lifting it up slightly.
“What’s happened?” He said concerned putting his hand on my arm.
I winced, before sighing again. Chris could read me like a book, I could lie all I want but somehow he’d manage to read my mind and uncover the truth.
“Kaz, I’m worried about you.” He said looking into my eyes.
“It’s nothing honestly.” I replied in what I hoped was a convincing tone.
Apparently it wasn’t convincing enough as Chris looked at me, his eyes full of hurt and shook his head.
“No really Karen, what’s happened, you can tell me.” He responded.
A silent tear ran down my cheek but I wiped it away with my other hand
“Trust me.” He said taking hold of my hand.
I did trust him I really did, but I didn’t trust myself. What if I let too much slip? What would happen then...?
“It’s Stephen.” I said in a quiet voice.
Chris’s eyes grew wide in shock as he put to and to together. “You mean he did this to you?” he said horrified.
Like I said Chris can read me like a book.
I just nodded and Chris pulled me into a gentle hug before I broke away and sat down on the bench exhausted.
“I’ll kill him, I swear.” Chris said anger filling his voice.
“Chris please...” I said as more tears fell down my cheeks.
He knew this whole thing was breaking my heart so he fell quiet and sat down next to me holding me close.
We must have been off the ice for a while as I saw Jayne get off the ice and walk towards us.
“What’s happened?” Jayne said as she reached us and realised I was crying.
“You tell her Chris.” I replied as he pulled me closer to him.
Chris explained the whole thing to Jayne and her reaction was similar to Chris’s
“You just wait until I see him again!” Jayne exclaimed, I could see she was also on the verge of tears.
We just sat in silence until Jayne had calmed down slightly.
“How long has this been going on for doll?” Jayne asked.
“A few months now...” I responded noticing Jayne continue to hold in her tears.
“You’re not going back there.” Chris interjected.
“I have to...” I trailed off before looking down.
“Karen, he’s a cheat and a bully, you’re worth thousands of him.” Jayne added.
“Its fine, I’ll cope.” I responded
For the rest of the training session Chris and Jayne both tried to convince me to come back to one of their apartments and stay with them however I stuck to what I had said earlier even though I knew I’d regret it. At the end of the session I drove home and Chris followed me in his car. He parked in front of the house and ran towards me, standing blocking the door.
“I’m not leaving until I know you’re alright.” Chris said
“Thank you but I’ll be fine, I promise.” I said smiling at him before weaving my way around him and unlocking the door.
“I mean it Kaz, I’ll stay out here all night if I have to.” He said seriously.
“You’re so sweet you know Chris.” I said with a weak laugh before walking into the house gently shutting the door behind me.
“You kept me waiting a long while didn’t you Karen?” I heard Stephen say from upstairs. “And you know I hate waiting.”
Nerves began to fill me up inside as I climbed the stairs and paused on the landing as he came to meet me. He stopped inches from my face and kissed me roughly, his hands wandering my body. From somewhere deep inside I found the courage to pull away from him. I moved out of his grasp and wiped my mouth on my hand.
“You’re sick!” I shouted as tears ran down my cheeks again.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” He said, I knew he heard perfectly well.
“I said you’re sick! You’re a bully and a cheat, I can’t continue with this for much longer!” I replied bravely, I knew I would pay for what I said but I didn’t care.
“How very dare you, you little tart!” He shouted maliciously coming closer to me in an aggressive manor. “You’re going to wish you hadn’t said that.” He added.
Before I could react I felt his hands roughly grab my shoulders. He pushed me strongly backwards; I could feel I was right on the edge of the stairs. He smiled evilly before pushing me yet again...
I screamed as I fell down the stairs but I knew that would only make things worse. I landed heavily at the bottom of the stairs on my back. The pain was incredible. I closed my eyes before opening them again as I felt Steve’s foot come in contact with my side. I didn’t have the energy to scream again. I felt the world around me blur before I fell unconscious.
Let me know what you think! More? Xxx

I slowly felt myself come back around and half opened my eyes. I saw a silhouette of a crouched down at my side. I glanced over at the man and everything came into focus. It was Chris.
“Oh Karen, thank god!” Chris said taking hold of my hand. As I looked into his eyes I could tell he had been crying.
“What’s happened?” I asked quietly.
Chris explained everything to me and it all came flooding back. I moved my free hand to my waist and winced as I touched it. He looked at me before reading the look on my face
“Don’t worry he’s gone.” He said gently.
“He’ll be back.” I replied wincing again as I tried to sit up.
“Not if I can help it.” Chris said helping me to my feet and putting his arms around me as we walked into the living room.
I sat cross legged on the sofa gazing out of the window as a few tears escaped from my eyes. Chris went back into the kitchen. A minute later he came in with a pack of frozen peas and handed them to me.
“Thanks.” I said smiling weakly and putting them against my waist relieving the pain ever so slightly.
“No problem Barbs.” He said sitting next to me before pulling me into a gentle but comforting hug.
I cried on his shoulder for a little while but I eventually pulled away.
“Thank you.” I said looking into his eyes.
“What for eh?” He asked.
“Everything.” I responded.
The evening passed and there were many tears from me but I got through it with the help of Chris. He had decided he was going to stay with me tonight and I was secretly glad. I was sat on the sofa with my head on Chris’s shoulder drifting in and out of sleep with a half empty glass of red wine in one hand when there was a knock at the door...
“What’s that?” I said sleepily, turning to face Chris.
“It’s just the door Kaz.” Chris said running his fingers through my hair.
I began to sit up before Chris said “I’ll go don’t worry.”
He gently moved me off his shoulder before standing up and walking to the door. I fell back asleep and only woke again when I felt Chris sit back next to me.
“Who was it?” I asked looking at him.
“Stephen.” He said putting his arm around me to comfort me. “But don’t worry he’s gone now.”
“I’m scared Chris.” I said as a tear ran down my cheek.
“I won’t let him hurt you ever again, I promise.” He replied soothingly.
Struggled with this update, anyway, hope it was alright. Let me know what you think! More? xxx

The next morning I woke up with my head still on Chris’s shoulder and his arms around me protectively.
“Are you alright Kaz?” He said noticing I was awake.
“Not so bad.” I said sitting up and turning to look at him with a weak smile.”You?” I added.
“I’m fine as long as you are.” He replied smiling.
A few minutes later I went upstairs to get ready. I had a shower before changing into a pair of black leggings and a white vest top before putting on a black leather jacket and nude stilettos. The pain in my waist had eased slightly but I wished the same could be said about the pain in my heart. I put on some makeup and a brave smile before walking back downstairs to Chris. He too was ready so we both left the house within minutes. I had insisted that I was fine to skate, secretly hoping it would take my mind off things. We arrived at the rink and the second I walked in Jayne threw her arms around me being careful of my waist.
I caught her up with the situation before getting on the ice and attempting to pretend it was a normal day. Suffice to say it didn’t go as I hoped but I brushed past the conversations and got to the work. I skated around to get myself warmed up drifting off into my own world and only coming back to reality when I felt somebody’s hand on my shoulder.
I practically jumped out of my skin. I spun round and realised it was only Chris.
“Jeez Chris! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” I said as my heart began to return to its usual speed.
“Sorry Barbs.” He said chuckling. “I only came to tell you we’ve started with Hayley and Dan.”
“I’ll let you off then.” I said with a smile skating back towards them.
As I had predicted the skating took my mind of Stephen nicely and by the end of the session I was beginning to feel more like myself. Chris went back to my house with me as he had decided to stay with me until he knew I was safe. When we got in I sat with my feet up on the sofa and turned on my phone. Chris sat down next to me moving my legs. The second he sat down I moved my legs back and put them on his lap, grinning cheekily at him. He just shook his head and laughed. By now my phone had turned itself on and I had a couple of texts off Jayne that I replied to instantly. Chris made us both tea before we had to leave again for the rink to work on the whole group routine.
We arrived at the rink for about 7:30pm and the second training session of the day commenced shortly after We all worked on the routine for a couple of hours before calling it quits and going home again. The second time I went to unlock the front door before realising it was already open. I knew something wasn’t right.
“Chris!” I shouted him and he walked towards me
“You alright Karen?” He asked before he arrived at my side.
“Someone’s unlocked the door.” I said quietly feeling sick.
“I’ll go in, stay behind me.” He said taking hold of my hand.
We both walked quietly into the house and Chris picked up a carving knife off the kitchen side for protection. 10 minutes later we had checked all of the rooms and I sat on the bed in my bedroom with my head in my hands. After a lot of searching I had realised Stephen had come to collect his things as half of them were missing out of his wardrobe.
“I’m sorry, I should have gathered. I’m so stupid.” I said as Chris sat down next to me.
“No you’re not! For all we knew he could have been waiting in here for you. He should have let you know instead of just letting himself in.” Chris said gently putting his arms around me.
“I just feel so paranoid after all of this, it’s ridiculous.” I replied opening up to him.
“I’ll ring up and get the locks changed.” He said holding me close to him.
“Thank you.” I replied.
Chris pulled his phone out of his pocket and rang a locksmith. From what I gathered of the conversation they would be here in just under 10 minutes. Chris hung up and confirmed what I thought.
“They’ll be round in 10 minutes.” He said as I put my head on his shoulder and he ran his fingers through my hair.
We stayed as we were just talking until we heard a knock at the door and had to walk downstairs to greet the locksmith. He set to work instantly and was done very quickly.
“How many keys would you like Ms?” He asked
“2 please.” I replied.
He handed me the keys and Chris insisted on paying him before we were left alone again. I gave Chris the other key before we both sat down in the living room. I poured 2 large glasses of red wine and handed one to Chris.
“That feels better.” I said smiling as I took a sip of the wine.
“You can say that again.” Chris replied taking hold of my other hand.
“Thank you for everything today, you’ve been amazing.” I said genuinely looking into his eyes.
“You’re the amazing one Karen; I don’t know how you’ve managed these past few months.” He replied.
“It’s all in the past now, but I couldn’t have managed it without you.” I responded.
Let me know what you think and if you want more :) xxx
Disclaimer: I own no one or nothing mentioned in this fic. It is all completely fictional and I don't mean to cause harm/offence. I wish non of the bad things wrote about upon to happen to the lovely people in the story.
The next morning I woke up in my bedroom with bright light streaming through the window. I got out of bed and wrapped my short black dressing gown around me before hearing a shout.
“Karen! You better come down!” Chris shouted from downstairs.
I instantly panicked. I slipped on my nude killer heals before running as fast as I could downstairs. Much to my surprise there was no break in or sign of Stephen, just Chris with a newspaper in his hand.
I joined him in the kitchen before looking at him confused.
“Read this.” He said gently.
I took the paper out of his hands and after one glance at the front page realised what the problem was.
The front page was dominated with a story about me and Stephens split. I wasn’t ready for this, not yet. I continued reading. The next bit shocked me the most. It read ‘It seems Barbers close pal Christopher Dean has spent yet another night in her apartment, perhaps this may be why she and Stephen split earlier this week.”
I put the paper down and turned to face Chris before sighing.
“I should have gathered this would happen.” I said
“I’m sorry Kaz.” He replied in a worried tone.
“You’ve got nothing to be sorry for.” I said smiling weakly.
We both got ready before we picked up our skates and opened the front door.
“Oh good god!” I muttered as we walked out of the house.
The press were everywhere!
Many reporters asked us both for statements and comments but we ignored them all until we reached the safety of Chris’s car.
“I’m just ready to throw my life into a case and move away to somewhere where nobody knows me.” I said putting my head in my hands and Chris shut the car door.
“Don’t worry Barbs.” He said pulling me into a hug.
“It’s a good job you’re cars got blackout windows otherwise that would have been front page news.” I said with a small laugh.
“Oh you can say that again.” He said laughing too before starting the engine.
*********************
One week later Chris was still staying with me and we were still ending up in the papers. I never thought I’d say this in my whole life but for once the papers may have been right, or predicted the future at least. We had definitely begun to grow closer during the past week or so and my head was a mess as each day I realised I loved him a little more than the day before.
We were both sat together on the sofa looking at today’s papers.
“It’s ridiculous.” I lied after I finished reading another paragraph about our alleged affair.
“Is it?” Chris said looking into my eyes.
I blushed slightly. “No, no, I didn’t mean it like that; you’re a handsome guy Chris...” I said trailing off when I realised I’d dug myself into a bit of a hole.
“You’re beautiful too you know Kaz.” He replied.
“Well maybe it’s not so ridiculous then.” I said my heart pounding.
“You could say.” He replied.
I leant in and kissed him passionately before wrapping my arms around his neck. He had pulled me closer to him and had his arms gently around my waist. Chris pulled away and looked into my eyes.
“Are you sure you want this?” He asked gently.
“Sure as anything, you?” I said smiling.
“Definitely.” He replied smiling back.
He leant in and kissed my again this time more intensely. We stayed on the sofa for a while before I took hold of his hand.
“Let’s go upstairs eh?” I said cheekily.
“That sounds like a plan Ms Barber.” He said seductively.
KnC time :) Hope you're all enjoying this, more? xx
