“Karen Barber will you marry me?”
The handsome blonde prince asked kneeling down on one knee that was no going slightly numb; there was a silence around the pair who were in the middle of the training rink at Ellstree studios. There was a very surprised Karen totally not expecting this at all though known each other for a very long time they had only been in a relationship 8 months. There was a crowd of people gathering around the rink just waiting anxiously for the answer suddenly to put everyone out of their misery she bent down to his level and placed a soft kiss on his lips leaving him with a less worried feeling now.
“Yes I will!”
The biggest smile ever grew across her beautiful face and her eye’s twinkled as Christopher Dean took her tiny hand in his own placing the most gorgeous white gold ring on her engagement finger. The ring was stunning well worth the money he had paid for it, it wasn’t in your face it was just a simply ring that suited her well. It was real white gold with a small silver diamante in the middle of it that was matching her twinkling eyes. Karen practically pulled her blonde prince off up the ice she wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his around her waist soon their lips meet each other and locked for a deep passionate kiss that lasted for a moment or two when they came back to Earth realising everyone around was watching them and they then got back to work.
“Let’s see the ring?”
Frankie one of the professional skaters asked and as soon as Karen had got off the rink there was a whole crowd of skaters, celebrities and crew gathered around her in a circle all having a look and admiring the ring. I think we can say Chris had done a very good job at picking it out it took him long enough when did too in fact a whole month it had taken looking round for the right ring that would fit his now fiancée perfectly.
“You lucky, lucky woman and so romantic too” Another skater Alexandra commented.
There was questions being fired a left, right and centre Karen was still very in surprise not sure whether she was actually dreaming what had happened and was trying to answer all the questions that were being fired at her. Eventually after half hour Karen was able to take breath and breathe again as everyone had disappeared and stopped asking questions apart from one. There was another blonde with round about the same length hair as herself, a great friend of the pair and Karen now knew what used to be her best friend as her older sister and the person who would look at for her, be there when she needed advice it was of course Chris’s skating partner Jayne Torvill.
“You knew about this didn’t you?”… “Why didn’t you tell me?” Karen asked as she walked over to Jayne.
“I didn’t honestly” she replied so happy for her two bestest friends.
“You did”
“I didn’t I swear” just then Chris came in to find them “Chris isn’t it true I didn’t know a thing about you were going to propose to her?”
“Yep sure is” he replied to the question Jayne had asked him walking over to give his fiancée and soon to be Mrs Dean a kiss “I hadn’t told anyone about the proposal”
“See I told you I knew nothing about it don’t you think I would have told you as soon as I knew you know I can’t keep my big mouth shut”
“Yeah that’s exactly why I didn’t tell you” the three of them laughed happily together.
Jayne went off for a few minutes and left the pair on their own to have some privacy they once again wrapped their selves in each other’s arms and began into yet another passionate kiss but this time lasting a little longer than before. When they had broken the kiss off Karen looked down at her new glittering ring and smiled.
“It’s beautiful Chris”… “I love it, it’s just perfect”
“Just like you then babe”… “I’m glad you like it seriously you don’t know how long it took me to find that ring I wanted it to be perfect as you mean that much to me”
“And it is thank you I love you so much”
“I love you too baby”
They shared one final kiss before everyone came back and got on with work unfortunately there was still a lot of work to be done and they were there until 9 that night.

*** “When we going to have the big day then?” Karen asked so excited hoping it would be pretty soon.
“How does the 25th December sound?” he asked hoping her reply would be yes.
“That be wonderful but we be able to have the wedding this year there’s only 3 weeks”
“Saying I’ve been very daring and booked us a place on the 25th December already?”
“Have you”… “Seriously have you?” her little face lit up once again like a shining star.
“Yes we are getting married 25th December in 3 weeks time at 11:30am at Ellstree studios” The last part left Karen with a slightly confused look on her face.
“Ellstree studios?”
“Yes”… “You are going to be skating down the aisle”… “The vicar is coming to the studios”
“Oh my god Chris I can’t believe it really, really, really”
“Yep” Chris had never seen Karen so happy before in all the time he had known her and this made him happy knowing she was.
“You Mrs Dean had better get dress shopping I’ve given you and Jayne the day off tomorrow to go shopping”… “I gathered that Jayne would be maid-of- honour so I’ve invited her round for a drink later and you can tell then”… “that’s of course if you want her to”
“Yes I do thank you Chris”
They newly engaged couple cooked a simply meal together just for the two of them washed up and put the hover around quickly before Jayne arrived. Chris got the door dead on 7pm the time they had invited Jayne over while Karen put the kettle on and got the coffees ready knowing exactly what her best friend would want.
“Hello come in” Chris greeted her.
“Hi”… “I’ve brought Jess like you asked me too” Jayne called into the kitchen where Karen was just finishing off the drinks. Jess was Jayne’s daughter she was so cute and adorable she had only just turned 4 years old a few weeks back.
Karen brought 3 coffees in, in large cream cups with spots on them and a little plastic cup of orange squash for Jess placing them on the table in the middle of the very large living room that had cream sofa’s either side of it. Each sofa had a teal coloured blankets and cushions on matching the colour the room was painted in. Jayne and Jess sat on the smaller sofa, Jess was wrapped in one of the blankets like she always did when she came over she just seemed to have a thing about them maybe it was the soft touch they had, and Karen and Chris were cuddled up very closely on the other.
“So what’s happening I can’t wait any longer to find out why you’ve got us here” Jayne asked excited and impatiently she honestly had no idea as she wasn’t expecting them to be getting married until later on in the next year.
“Well if you have any plans for 25th December in 3 weeks time then you’re going to have to cancel them”… “I want you to be my maid-of-honour”… “And Jess will you be my bridesmaid please?” Karen asked knowing the answer would be yes.
“Of course we will” Jayne replied squealing really loudly so happy she’d been asked …”3 weeks time how have you managed to book it that quickly?” Jayne wondered.
“Well you see I was very daring and booked it months ago before I’d even got the ring”
“Blimey Chris that was daring good thing she didn’t say no isn’t it” Jayne replied with a laugh.
“Yep sure is I don’t know what I would have done if she had said no”
“Do you want to tell her the other part about tomorrow?” Chris asked Karen practically whispering in her ear then placing a soft kiss on her neck.
“What other part?”
“Chris has given us both the day off tomorrow to go dress shopping”…”That reminds me I need to phone the girls later and tell them we’re going dress shopping”
“What time we going?”
“In the morning say you come here at about 9 time then we can go in my car and the girls can meet us there”
“Yeah that sounds fine”… “Which Church you getting married at then?”
“Oh that’s the other thing we aren’t getting married in a Church the Vicar is coming to us” Karen started Jayne was slightly confused like Karen was when Chris had told her.
“What so you’re getting married here?”
“No Ellstree Studios I’m skating down the aisle” Karen continued.
“You are so lucky I’m so jealous of you I wish Phil would have done this for me”
“I’m so excited these next three weeks had better go quickly” Karen said dreaming of what’s going to be the best day of her life.
After a couple more coffees and chatting about the wedding plans Jayne decided it was time to go home as they were to be up early in the morning Jess, had already fallen asleep and was lying in Jayne’s arms just looking so innocent and sweet. They said their goodbyes to Jayne standing at the door wrapped in each other’s arms waving to her until they could no longer see her car as she drove down the road.

Despite having a day off work Karen still got up at her usual time of 6am so she would be ready when Jayne got there ready to go shopping nice and early before it got too crowded and they wouldn’t be able to walk without someone stopping dead in front of them which annoyed Karen a lot.
“Morning babe”… “Why you not having a lie in Jayne’s not getting here until 9?” Chris asked as she walked over and sat on his lap he kissed her gently as she was still half asleep.
Chris had been up since half 5 he hated it when he had to rush around and be late as he hated being late and would have to be everywhere 15 minutes before the actual time. He had managed to get up, have a shower and cook some breakfast without waking Karen up he was sat at the table with a cup of coffee by the side of him waiting for it to cool down and the paper open on the sports section.
“You know how long it takes me to get ready especially if I’m going shopping” she replied laughing a little at the same time then kissing him back on the lips.
“For a moment I thought you were coming down to suggest we do something else” came a cheeky reply the pair all of a sudden becoming very playful. “Well if you can be quick I might consider it” playfully they made their way back up to the bedroom passionately kissing one another stripping down to just underwear falling back onto the coldness of the silk duvet cover that sent a shiver through Karen, as she lay her bare back on it and Chris climbed on top of her continuing to kiss her passionately.
Their love making had lasted a little longer than intended and just over half over later Chris was dressed again and left to go to training. Karen put her baby pink silk night gown on and stood at the door sharing one last kiss before he left to go to work waving goodbye and blowing sweet little kisses to him.

*** By 8:30am Karen had showered and finished her hair and makeup now it was just deciding on what to wear. She walked over opening up her wardrobe which wasn’t the average size most people had there was 3 rails filled with clothes and all 37 pairs of shoes were at the bottom lined up in colour and height order. 10 minutes of rummaging through the clothes carefully not to crease any of them pulling out a pair of dark washed skinny jeans, a creamy coloured vest top and a pair of heels several inches high to match.
Once ready it left her with a quick 10 minutes to herself to make something to eat and have a cup of coffee it wasn’t long before there was a little knock at the door from Jess.
“Hello sweetheart” she said picking Jess up holding her on her hip and cuddling her “you look very pretty today mummy done your hair?” she asked. Jess had her hair curled tied up in two pigtails in pale pink ribbons.
“Yes mummy” Jess replied pointing to Jayne.
“Wish I was still able to do that with my two” … “Are you excited Jess we are going to get you the most prettiest dress in the whole World” Karen said proudly she had always treated Jess as one of her own sometimes getting a little carried away at playing mummy a little too much towards Jess.
She put Jess down on the second step of in the hallway for a moment or two before searching for a coat that matched her outfit then into the kitchen to pick her bag up and keys. Karen carried Jess to her car putting her in her booster seat giving Jayne the keys to lock up the house and 20 minutes later they had arrived in town just waiting for Karen’s two daughters Emma and Laura to arrive, it didn’t take them long and they were soon wondering around looking in the first shop.
There weren’t very many wedding shops in town in fact out of 30 different shops there were only 5 bridal shops but there wasn’t very much time left either to get a dress and it wasn’t looking very promising at the rate they were going. They’d been to 4 out of the 5 bridal shops and on their way over to the final one hoping that there would be something there. All the other shops they’d been to there was nothing that had struck Karen’s eye they were all either too plain or too in your face, the wrong length and not much of a variety of dresses, style or colour. She wanted something that was different and unique and also not too over the top.
The final shop they entered had only been there a couple of months unlike the others that had been there years it looked very classy from the outside and before they had even got inside Karen, had spotted some dresses in the window on manikins that she rather liked the look of. As soon as they entered she took one quick look around and knew that this was going to be where she got her dress from and knew that it was going to be hard choice if she could she’d of had every single one of them. They all walked around together searching for a dress that would be perfect for Karen to start with and were going to decide on bridesmaid dresses afterwards, there were rows of beautiful, shimmering material in all styles and colours she knew what she was looking for but couldn’t quite describe it.
“This is the one”… “I love it I want it” Karen said pulling out the most amazing and beautiful dress ever and the colour was gorgeous so unique and different from the usual colour you’d opt for.
“It’s gorgeous” Jayne and both her daughters said in unison
“Oh mum go and try it on you’re going to look beautiful”
The three women waited outside the fitting area Jayne was holding Jess on her hip as her little legs were hurting her for a small person they had been walking around for hours on end and it seemed a very long walk.
You should have seen the expressions on all of their faces when Karen walked out in the gorgeous dress she looked absolutely stunning they were speechless and stuck for words to say.
“Dad was blind to let you go” Emma replied amazed at how stunning she looked Laura still speechless just admiring the dress the only other person who hadn’t said anything yet was Jayne.
“Jayne?”
“I”… “I don’t know what to say other than Chris is such a lucky man he will love it, it’s stunning you look stunning and the colour is adorable”… “Defiantly get this one and it fits you so well too”
“Good thing too it’s the last one and I love it so, so, so much” Karen was nearly in tears and couldn’t get over how beautiful the dress actually was.
Karen stood still in front of the large mirror that was in the middle of the shop in her own little world still wearing the amazing dress. It was a gorgeous pale mint colour with layers of material floor length, a V neck – holter top at the top of the dress with silver gems and glittery bits all over it but not too over the top just perfect. Once changed again she took the dress to the till and left it there while they searched around for the bridesmaid dresses it was lot easier now they knew what the colour scheme was going to be and had more or a key idea what they wanted.
“What about these and there is 3 of them all in small sizes too” Jayne pulled out a simply cream dress that had the same cut at the top as Karen’s did and came just above knee length with a pale mint ribbon that went around the waist exactly, the same colour as the brides dress.
“Yes they are perfect” … “Go try them on and I will go find Jess her dress”… “Call us when you’re all done come on Jessica”
They look so cute they walked down the rows of material again Karen with Jess’s little hand in hers and Karen talking away to her asking which dresses she liked finally they found one that both Karen and Jess loved Karen loved it especially, it was basically a very tiny version of her dress. Once they’d decided on dresses they took them all to the till and paid for them arranging for them to be delivered to Karen’s house on the day before the wedding so they kept safe and neat. Karen knew exactly what shoes they were all going to have and was going to buy them online when she got home later on that evening. After a shopping trip that looked like a near disaster at the beginning turned out to be very, very successful in the end all of them very happy and please with the outcome of their day.

*** The next three weeks went surprisingly very quickly and there was a lot going on with training the celebrities for the new series of Dancing On Ice that was returning to TV screens just a couple of weeks after Christmas. There were also several Christmas parties they had all been invited too then of course Karen’s hen night and Chris’s stag do then the rest of the time was spent organising and planning the wedding.
“Come on you two it’s not like you’re even being separated for 24 hours” Jayne said joking around with them and trying to split the pair apart on the evening before their wedding.
“One last kiss” Chris said pleading with Jayne. Once Chris had gone out the house to stay with best mate Phil – Jayne’s husband who he’d also known for many years too, it wasn’t long before Karen got out the first bottle of wine. The girls decided to have a nice quiet night in front of the TV watching Bridesmaids, just the 5 of them well 4 when Jess had been put to bed. They weren’t expecting to find her have walked into Karen’s room and fast asleep in the middle of the bed when they went up later on though she looked so cute though so Karen decided to leave her be, letting her stay in with her for the night.
By 11pm they all decided it was time to go to sleep as they were all to be up pretty early in the morning and it was going to be a very long and busy day ahead. They had all gone to have their nails and spas done that day so they weren’t rushing around in the morning and they had even picked out the hair styles they were having too so it didn’t waste as much of their valid time in the morning.
“Morning beautiful” Karen said quite cheerfully considering she was still half asleep when Jess climbed on top of her and hugged her tightly.
“We get to wear pretty dresses today” Jess said excitedly.
“Yes we do you are going to look beautiful darling”
“I’m hungry” Jess replied innocently.
“I haven’t got much Emma and Laura have ate it all what about we get up now before mummy does and you can have a bar of chocolate yeah”… “but don’t tell mummy or she will go mad”… “It’s a special day so it won’t hurt” Jess really liked the sound of this.
Karen got her silk dressing gown off the back of the door and wrapped it around her then returning to the bed to pick Jess up and carry her downstairs, who was sitting on the edge of it waiting for something to eat.
“Come here then”
Karen looked through the cupboards trying to find something for Jess to eat pulling out a whole secret stash she had hide away from the girls and Chris and handing the basket over to Jess letting her pick a chocolate bar out.
She sat Jess up on the top of the kitchen counter undoing the wrapper on the chocolate for her and pouring her out some orange squash into her little Peppa Pig water bottle.
“Quickly eat it before mummy comes”
Within a couple of minutes Jess had finished it just in time before Jayne had woken and come down to join them. Jayne sat at the table cuddling Jess on her lap and Karen put the kettle on making them a cup of coffee.
“Aunty Karen let me have chocolate for breakfast” Jess told her mother cheekily.
“Did she now” Jayne said luckily she was fine with it.
“I had nothing else to give her me and Chris have the bread with seeds in and she wouldn’t have liked that” … “It isn’t an ordinary day anyway I thought she could have it just as a one off”
“Don’t worry about it, its fine”
8am both Karens daughters had got up and everyone was now fighting in a friendly way over who was going to use the bathroom first of course Karen won the battle being the bride.

An hour after everyone was showered and walking around in their fluffy pink bath robes that were all matching even little Jess’s the hair and makeup artists arrived at the door and Karen lead them into the front room where there was the most space. There were only two stylists so they had to take it in turn Karen of course going first and getting the most time spent on then the other four took about 20 minutes each to do full hair and makeup. Karen decided to go for curls and had her hair down the last finishing touches were being done and they made sure that each individual curl was more than 100% perfect then one of the stylists carefully placed a silver tiara in her blonde curls, it was so pretty with mint gems that matched the dress.
“Oh my god”… “mum you look absolutely beautiful” Emma said totally amazed as her mother stood at the top of the stairs now finally ready. Karen walked down the stairs ever so carefully not to damage or crease the dress in any way when she reached the bottom Jayne gave her a friendly hug then turned her around so her back was facing Jayne.
“What you doing?”
“Just turn around and close your eyes for a minute” Jayne said instructing Karen what she was to do. She got out a small box from her bag opened it and placed the most stunning necklace around her neck.
“You can open your eyes now” Karen’s eye’s wondered downwards until she caught sight of the necklace she loved it you could see the tears in her eyes forming.
“It’s beautiful”
“Chris told me to give you it before you got to the studios”
*** “Have we got everything?” Karen asked it was nearly time for them to leave.
“You ready for this?”… “No second thoughts” Jayne asked just jokingly and Karen laughed back with her.
“Nope” … “Come on let’s make a move”
Karen walked in front with Jayne and Laura holding up the dress from dragging on the floor and Emma Carried Jess out to the car. It took them a while before they had set off as they had to adjust Karen’s dress so it wasn’t getting creased up.
“We ready?” the driver asked
“Yes ready”
It was 11:20am they were almost at the rink and the nerves were getting to Karen who had gone a little more pale in the face than she was normally. Jayne could see this sign very clearly as she’d known Karen many years now and it was exactly the same the first time round when she got married to ex and father of her two beautiful daughters Stephen. She took hold of Karen’s hand in hers and stroked it gently.
“Everything’s going to be fine” she said reassuring her best friend just then Karen realised something.
“Oh my god we need to turn around now quickly” … “I’ve left my skates in the front room with all the fuss over the dress getting into the car I’ve forgot them” Karen began to really panic there wasn’t very much time at all to get to the studios now they had to turn around and go back to the house. She knew Chris hated it when she was late and this was their big day all that was running through her mind was is he going to be cross with her. She was trying her best to hold the tears back.
“Shhh”… “ Right calm down it’s going to be fine”… “I will phone Chris and tell him what’s happened don’t worry” she reassured Karen again passing her a crisp white tissue to wipe away the tears.
Jayne rushed in the house picking up the skates, phoned Chris to let him know they would be a little late explaining briefly what had happened and they were soon off again and 20 minutes later only 7 minutes later than they should have been arrived at Elstree studios.
Sorry it's a little boring at the moment but it will get a lot more interesting and dramatic soon after the wedding, hope you are liking it though x

Jayne helped to tie Karen’s skates up while she sat on the edge of the bed in her dressing room at the studios holding the many layers of dress up. Both Emma and Laura had taken Jess to sit down with the rest of the guests who were family relations, close friends and the whole of the Dancing On Ice crew.
“You ready?” Jayne asked
“Yep I’m so excited” “I hope Chris likes the dress”
“He will trust me” … “The dress is nearly as beautiful as you are” Karen blushed a little.
“Thank you”
All the guests who were witnessing the marriage were sat around the seating around the rink and there was a special carpet that had been set out especially for Karen to walk down until she reached the rink and stepped on. She smiled at him lovingly as she stepped on the ice and he smiled back just thinking how beautiful and gorgeous she looked he thought to him-self how lucky he was to be marrying her. He loved everything about the dress especially the colour of it and he loved Karen so, so, so much.
She looked absolutely stunning and looked like a little ice princess skating down the aisle she was so happy Chris could see this himself from the expression on her face, the guests all commented amongst themselves how beautiful Karen looked and everyone of the female guests adored her dress also commenting how lucky she was.
They stood facing each other in front of the vicar Chris didn’t once let go of Karen’s hand and she was happy that he didn’t as she loved it when he was holding her even if it was just her hand she felt so safe and loved.
“Before we start I’d just like to say how beautiful you look and I’m glad you like the necklace too”
“Thank you” She said quietly.
“Please repeat after me” the vicar instructed.
“I, Christopher Dean, take you, Karen Barber, to be my lawfully wedded wife, my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. In the presence of God, our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.” At first the start there was a few little giggles from the pair but then both became very serious about it.
“I, Karen Barber, take you, Christopher Dean, to be my lawfully wedded husband, my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. In the presence of God, our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.”
The rings had now been placed thoughtfully on each other and both had got each other’s names engraved on the inside of the rings.
“You may now kiss the bride” The vicar spoke happily they moved closer towards each other Karen wrapped her arms around Chris’s neck and he began to kiss her passionately.
They skated back down the aisle hand in hand so happy both with the biggest smiles of their faces ever. Quickly changed into their other wedding shoes to go to the after party at the hotel across the road from the studios it wasn’t very far at all about 5 maybe 10 minute drive.
Before they got outside Chris knew that Karen was about to scream with happiness he’d spotted something no one else had and hoped they wouldn’t say anything until they’d got outside he knew it was going to make Karen so happy and just as they walked out the studio there was the scream of happiness from Karen.
“You said you wished it would snow on Christmas this year”
“It’s just so beautiful and makes the day so special”… “This truly has been the best day of my life and we haven’t even had the party yet thank you so much” the snow had covered the ground in a thick white blanket that glittered and they could feel the coldness of the snowflakes as they fell gently but fast from the sky. This was just perfect for their wedding photo’s that were about to be taken the photographer had just arrived in time.

They partied very late into the night Karen and Chris dancing together very closely with Chris’s hands placed around her waist and Karen’s head resting on his shoulder as the slow romantic music played softly. Everyone else around watched them they looked so perfect together the way they moved their bodies at the same time in timing with the music as if they had actually practised the number – but they hadn’t that was just how perfectly suited they were for each other. A few other couples had got up to join them like Jayne and her husband Phil but none of them seemed to have the chemistry and timing like our newlyweds had. The night came to an end it was now 2 in the morning – Boxing Day in-fact. They said their goodbyes to the remaining guests that were still there gathered the presents people had gave them and made their way back in the taxi, Karen who was nested into to Chris was nearly asleep after the very busy and hectic but enjoyable day. Chris stroked her arm gently pulling her close into him.
“That’s it you go to sleep my princess”…”You looked so pretty today and I love you thank you for making this the best day of my life” and he kissed her gently on the top of her head before he knew it she’d fallen asleep.
When they arrived back at the house Chris the bags of gifts up first then came back to pay the taxi driver and carry Karen into the house and up to their bedroom. She began to wake up again but not fully falling asleep again straight away after Chris helped her put her silk nighty on placing her in the middle of the warm and cosy bed, climbing in next to her then pulling the covers over them both and cuddling up close to the love of his life.
***
“Karen” Chris shook her a little to wake her up.
“What is it” she replied very sleepily.
“Come on it’s time to get up?” he whispered in her ear.
“What time is it?” she said pulling the covers back over herself.
“6am”
“What why are we up now it’s our day off go back to sleep”
“No we need to get up now or we will be late”
“Late for what?”
Chris lent over Karen opened the draw and pulled out a envelope containing a pair of flight tickets and passed them to Karen giving her a kiss as he passed them.
“Happy late Christmas” she opened up the envelope pulling the tickets out and read them Chris waited for a response hoping he’d done right.
“We’re going to Dubai”… “Is this for real? I thought you said we couldn’t afford to go away this year?”
“Well you it wouldn’t have been a surprise if you would have known would it”…”and I’ve packed your stuff for you ready all you need to do now is get dressed and then we can get going the taxi will be in an hour”
“I love you so much”
